0.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2003 I never liked this American Standard. Not even at college keg parties at WVU ten years ago. One of the very weakest of all American Standards. Interesting thing is, while I was in college in Arkansas, this brew was found only in the "imported" section of the local liquor stores. They were charging $7 for a six-pack of this piss. In Morgantown, WV, just a couple hours South West of Latrobe, this is the piss beer that frats and other insufficiently funded students, like myself, served at their keg parties. It's like $25.00 for a half keg. I drank plenty of it in college, but not much since. Nothing to it!

Itís a really pale yellow straw with a central cylinder of bubbles rising to a central dome of white etch. Smells real distant, some flowers, some grains and white rice - this kinda reminds me of urine from a catheter bag. A very light flavor, with grain, a bit of corn some sweet bread flavors in there as well. Not a good flavor, but plenty of water like flavors. Thin, empty body with some hi carb and a slick finish. This is less than impressive.

The can crap from St Louis. Thereís nothing here. Maybe itís hazy memories of undergrad life, but I remember there being more - not much - but more to Rolling Rock.

This was my fatherís favorite beer for most of his teenhood. $5.49 for the canned 6pack purchased in town. Pours a light cream yellow. Aromas of wet cardboard, melon rind, Bible paper, and mashed corn. Tastes the same with the addition of lager yeast and noble hops by swallow. Refreshingly smooth and delicate. I donít careóthis is an American staple.

Typical of the macro-brew experience. Unpleasant smell ("aroma" is too generous), unpleasant taste.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Had directly from the bottle at Boat Works in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
Appearance: Welp, green bottle... I know itís a very light beer, and almost like a cream ale. No fingers of head in the glass.
Smell: Genny Cream Ale, are you familiar with that? A creamed corn sort of smell. Quite sweet. Fairly pleasant, nothing offensive. Not much to it.
Taste/feel: Not bad. Decent flavor, but not much going on. Vanilla sort of flavor, like you may expect from a mass-produced cream ale-esque beer. The feel is kind of nice, actually pretty creamy. It reminds me a bit of Genessee Cream Ale, but they seem really similar to me, based on my memory.
Not an awful beer at all. More enjoyable than a lot of light beers out there, as it has a bit of a body to it, and slightly more flavor.

Could be worse. Only have drank rolling rock a few times, but donít remember it being particularly offensive.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not bad for being cheap. I actually kinda like the sweet smell, although i can recognize the corn syrup resemblance. Color is average paleness , I don't see the "extra" paleness, although I wouldn't think of that as a good thing anyway. Taste is light and refreshing, although aftertaste is industrial

Extra pale? What the fuck is extra pale? I can only assume they mean the color and if they do they knocked it out of the park. Smells is full of adjuncts like corn syrup and dme otherwise this is a dud.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Appearance: thick, sudsy white head recedes with almost no lacing. Clear straw color with moderate carbonation bubbles streaming.
Aroma: corn husks, a bit of breadiness and water.
Mouthfeel: light and crisp, finish is dry.
Flavor: the corn sweetness dominates, with some of the rice also evident, maybe just a hint of hops in the finish.
