Bottle from De Molen shop, 10/10/2013. Pours black, light tan head fades to smooth crema on the surface, thin sticky lacing left behind. Aroma is mild chocolate with roast notes, off-key soured caramel, vanilla and bourbon. Taste is roasted chocolate malts, dark fruits with bitter sour off-notes, coffee and whiskey in the finish. Thick, smooth body. Maybe an off-bottle showing initial signs of infection, not what I was expecting.

Bottled, 33 cl. Black body with a small dark brown head, which laces minimally. Nose and aroma ruled by the bourbon barrel escorted in the background by chocolate, caramel, dried fruits (cherries, raisins) and mild roasted malt. Oily mouthfeel. Long and warming finish with dark chocolate and spicy hops. Serious and delicious brew for special occasions.
