Bottle from De Molen shop, 10/10/2013. Pours black, light tan head fades to smooth crema on the surface, thin sticky lacing left behind. Aroma is mild chocolate with roast notes, off-key soured caramel, vanilla and bourbon. Taste is roasted chocolate malts, dark fruits with bitter sour off-notes, coffee and whiskey in the finish. Thick, smooth body. Maybe an off-bottle showing initial signs of infection, not what I was expecting.

Pours black with a brown lacing. Aroma has some strangeness like the original. Some grant malts, hard roasted malts, cocoa beans, some dry wood and a some liquorice. The taste is very roasted and has some weak hops as well. Dry cocoa beans, dry wood, liquorice and some fresh grainy malts. Better than the non-barrel aged beer - it does not have the tartness. But still it does not blend very well for me. Still okay.

33cl bottle. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. The nose has loooots of bourbon. Not so much wood, but explicit bourbon and vanilla, hard roasted malts, still lots of the original beer with some old hops and some odd, grainy oatmeal. Some chocolate as well. Taste has a lot going on. Caramel, caramel malts, bourbon, chocolate, hard roasted malts, grainy oatmeal, that sure does provide some smoothness to the body, but at the same time theres some sweet, raw grain to it, that isnít very fitting. In general the beer doesnít really blend together too well, but with that said, thereís still a lot of nice stuff in here. Smooth body and low carb.

Bottle at home, shared (04/03/13). Pours black with no head. Sweet aroma of bourbon, roasted malts, alcohol, dark chocolate, coffee. Taste is sweet, roasted bitterness, dark chocolate, coffee, warming bourbon alcohol. Long bittersweet aftertaste of hard roasted malts and bourbon. Very nice!

330 ml bottle from BeerNavigator, Netherlands. Pitch black color with a big brown head. Aromas of olive, bourbon, some chocolate. Taste is really smooth, bourbon, dark chocolate, olives, vanilla, some dark fruits. Aftertaste is medium, not intense but tags along. Medium to full body with medium carbonation.

07.10.2014, 0,33l bottle @ home, courtesy of the brewer:
Big brown slightly bubbly mediumlasting head. Aroma is sweet, dark sugar, vanilla, mild bourbon, dark malts, grass, oak, caramel, chocolate. Taste is harsh and boozy, too much vanilla, whiskey, metal tank, harsh grass, oak, bark, pine needles, harsh hops, soil. Longlasting bitterness, harsh dry mouthfeel. If only the taste would have lived up to the aroma...

0.33l bottle from Bierkoning. Just missed this one at Borefts, so have been looking forward to trying this for some time now. Itís as good as black in the glass this one. Itís leaving a small softly lacing brown head. On the nose I immediately get a slightly sour woody thing in the nose. Lots of roastiness mixed with spices and chocolate as well. Cognac sweetness, traces of vanilla but the dominator is that slightly tart/sour wood. Mhh.. I really like the flavor on this one. Super Bourbon infused. Lots and lots of sweet vanilla with chocolate and slightly charred wood. Yeah, this is nice! It has a thick oily feeling in the mouth and itís only softly prickling on the carbonation level. Dark coffee, more chocolate but the real kicker is in the Bourbon. Ends slightly warming with lots of dark flavors. Undoubtedly the best Iíve had from these guys. 15.03.2014
