Bottle thanks to Todd. Pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head. A light chocolate nose with some toffee and coffee. The flavor is licorice, some dark chocolate, caramel, some yeast. Pretty dry finish. Very good beer.

Black with a gigantic creamy dark-coffee head. This beer actually gazered on me a bit when I opened it, but I think it was just that the cap was on very tightly and I had to really yank it off. Aroma roasty and sweet, dark caramel, chocolate, vinous, alcoholic. Taste of roast and espresso, dark bitter chocolate, burnt toast, and ash, Not nearly as sweet as aroma would suggest. Palate warming and very roasty.

Black color. Almost no foam, looks murky. The aroma has hints of salmiak. Great taste. Caramel, chocolate and hints of vanilla.

Bottle to tulip
Dark chocolate, sweet malts, molasses, toasted malt, bourbon, and grains which fruit flies seem to adore. Creamy tan head with a deep black colour. Caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, and oats.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottled) Almost black with a small, quickly fading, big-bubbly, beige head. Strongly malty nose with oatmeal sourness, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee. Flavor is roasted and lightly charcoaly, but there’s also sweetness to balance. Quite bitter, charcoaly, black coffee finish. Medium to full body, slightly watery, lowish CO2. A bit too thin and burned for my taste, even though the oat does bring some softness along. 3446

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from De Molen Beer Shop. Poured a deep mahogany with a frothy off-white head. The aroma is boozy liqourice roasted malt. The flavour is strong bitter with a liqourice bitter palate. The bitter liqourice throughout this beer was rather unusual, slightly medical and I can’t say I enjoyed it. It really dominated. Full bodied with a light oily texture and soft carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle pours black in color with a finger of light beige head that leaves some spotted lacing behind. Aroma is dark fruits with some chocolate and light roasted grains and perhaps a hint of licorice. Taste is a dark fruit and light chocolate malty sweetness with a light roasted grain and pine hop bitterness finishing with a hint of licorice and alcohol. Medium bodied with light carbonation. A little bit too fruity for the style, but otherwise a pretty solid brew.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2014 31st August 2013
Opaque dark brown beer with a massive tan head. The head is super tangy, almost sour. Smooth palate. Very tangy dark malts, again touching on sour. Whispers of dark chocolate and coffee. Sourish dried fruits. Finishes semi dry. Much too tangy, makes me wince! 2.5

I think the first bottle I had must of been infected. A second one is airy and semi dry. Fairly smooth dark malts, whisper of roast. Light touch of dark chocolate. Airy dark malt cream. Light coffee cream. Finishes smooth. Not bad at all and a country mile better than my first bottle.
