COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong taste is provided by chocolaty and roasted malts, which are combined with soft smoothness from the oats. Add up a little bitterness from Columbus hops and you’ll get a dangerously drinkable Double Oatmeal Stout!

0.33l bottle from trade with MrHangover. Thanks man! A quite over-filled bottle that pours a deep brown body with a over-gigantic layering and lacing chocolate-colored fluffy head. Takes quite a while for it to calm down as well, but when it has, I get a good dash of chocolate, roasted malts and some ice cream in the aroma. Also tones of some green apples, nail polish remover, wood and a little bit of wet cardboard. The flavor is at first a bit yeasty with more green apples, but then it switches over in to this roasted and bitter killing machine! Heavy heavy roasted with a really big bitterness, I also get black chocolate with a suiting warming almost nail polish boozy finish before the chocolate malty aftertaste takes over. At first I feared this might be a bad bottle or something, but it quickly redeemed itself for being a fine imp stout. 07.07.2012

Deep dark / black colour with off white head... vanishes after a while. Smells like chocolate and bread. Tastes of Lakrisal, anice, fennel and chocolate. Dry and a bit sweet almost like cherries. Heavy alcohol flavour, but not to much! Nice!

PunkAGM2015 rate catchup from notes. 6/6/15. Final stop at CASC. What can I say, it’s a classy imperial stout.

Dark brown, near black body with a thin beige collar. Aromas of roast, char, chocolate, molasses. Rich and dark. Chocolate and leather, with ample dark roast character. Sweet, dark fruits soaked in booze. Not getting the oatmeal character here. Medium thick body with low carbonation. Pretty good.

9.6% ABV. Imperial Stout. Malty. Sweet. Caramel flavor notes impress themselves on the palate right away. A little pushy and a little lacking in finesse for me; but that’s just me I guess. The aromas from the back of the nose and throat can only be described as funky. Flavor notes suggesting dark chocolate, dates, sweet prunes, and honey plums are all present. Hint of sweet tobacco in the back of the throat. Rich breadlike palate from all that oatmeal, nice solid malty base. Good resinous hops with a clingy bitter botanical finish that just won’t go away, but not very interesting otherwise. I like Prairie Ale’s, Siren’s Shattered Dream or Mikkeller’s Black Malts and Body Salts better.

Alengrin (3127) - BELGIUM - MAY 17, 2015
Strong Dutch stout with coarse and loose, light beige head and black colour. Aroma of walnuts, fondant, whisky, cocoa, caramel, bayleaf, paprika and something strangely ’meaty’ or even ’fishy’ (fresh sea fruit - if I had to taste this blind, I’d suspect it to be an oyster stout). Sweet, candied onset with salty touch (soy sauce), hearty and umami flavour, thick and oily mouthfeel, a bit sticky, toasted bread and roasted bitterness in the end but not strongly coffeeish, bitter chocolate, herbal hops and warming, whisky-like alcohol. Very good stout.
