Countbeer (2852) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JAN 3, 2013
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A small to medium sized beige vanilla light tan colored head which changes fairly quick into a lacing on top of a dark brown to black colored beer.
The aroma that immediately hits the nose is that of fresh crusher coffee beans, a lot of them actually. Like the day you start with getting yourself a normal cup of coffee (no senseo pads, hehe) and you put the coffee in the filter, itís just that and just that and nothing more. Coffee, coffee and coffee...
Them boys of the Rooie Dop may have cooked some filters with coffee along with the hops though...
The taste is again loads of coffee with a tiny touch of something sour like berries. But the grinded crisp coffee is dominating this beer.
The aftertaste has most of the different notes of tastes: coffee, coffee roast, coffee bitter, chocolate bitter, berries, roasted barley malts and something light yeasty.
Low to no carbo, soft light watery light oily mouthfeel, medium body and a light creamy sticky texture.
Nice beer. I like coffee, I like sour, itís a nice combo though a tiny bit dull, but still a decent beer.

Not my favorite of the redcapped beers. Just a little much like ground coffee. But then again, Iíve had coffee beers that were afwul and this certainly isnít. Bottle from De Bierkoning.

Shared bottle at Schoukjelleren, Oslo. Pours clear dark black, no head at all. Aroma is strong coffee. Taste is coffee as well, cold one, light watery palate, rather neutral and short middle, the end is full of lingering coffee. Strange and interesting.
