3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 jerohen (1862) - Bussum, - NOV 11, 2012Bottled, courtesy of caesar. Black appearance, beige head. Aroma is dominated by fresh coffee, very nice, some roasted malts. Quite bitter flavor, coffee less dominant but still obvious present, roasted malts, chocolate. In contrast to several other other coffee stouts, this one does not have a creamy mouthfeel at all, it’s quite thin bodied. Bitter finish, not only hops but also because of the coffee i guess. I prefer a little bit more body, but it’s still a very nice easy to drink beer.

330ml bottle. Dark brown colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Dark malty aroma with a touch of roast, an explicit coffee note, a minimally fusty, earthy touch. Taste is dry and sourish, dry and astringent coffee note. Infected?

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 JefVerstraete (408) - BELGIUM - MAY 6, 2013
Dark brown, medium carbonation. Sour? aroma with notes of roasted malts and coffee. Dry finish. Is this beer meant to be sour? Very strange combination with the bitter and dry taste of coffee.

If you want a coffee porter this one delivers. In your face coffee aroma and flavors. A bit heavy on the carbonation and lighter on the palate than I would have liked but after all this is a 6.5% coffee porter and NOT a RIS.
