A golden lager with a slight malty sweetness, delicately balanced with the spicet zesty note of tettnang and saaz. Lengthy cold conditioning developes a smooth crisp sessionable beer. The Rooney family is no stranger to beer and beer gardens. The roots go back to the turn of the 20th centurywhen Dan opened the first pub on the corner of Cory and general Robinson Street where 3 rivers stadium stood. In 1933, the family brewing business began in Braddock. With this beer we celebrate both Celtic & Pittsburgher pride. Slainte!

Standard longneck, pedestrian label. Clear, pale, with an icy white head. Slightly lemony, continental hop aroma. Decent pils character, crisp, brisk bittering. Medium body, effervescent mouthfeel. ABC Liquors, Betton.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 12 oz bottle. Sparkling medium golden pour, thin snow white head that sticks around a bit. Pretty much a neutral aroma, trace of distilled water. Flavor is pleasant if not plain, light breadiness, some hints of spent grain, a touch of nuttiness. Crisp mouthfeel. Good, solid old-fashioned lager.

Cloudy straw yellow color with a white head and limited retention. Spotty lacing. Lager taste is a little paler than BMC. Decent but wouldn’t seek it out.

FROTHINGSLOSH (5402) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 8, 2014
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy yellow-peach color with a large foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was tangy and citric with a bit of cracker. The flavor was tart and tangy citrus, bread dough and a hint of perfume. Medium length tangy citrus and perfume finish. Medium body. Meh.

3 ounce sampler at the Grovetoberfest Miami beer festival 10/13/12. Not bad.

12 oz bottle from Penn Brewery. A resident north side livin’ Pittsburgher with a pro bias toward anything local. Sure beats the head off Iron City or any of the other locals. There’s a certain crispness here that makes it very appealing. Should do well this coming football season.

Pittsburgher, steelers, pirates, penguins, and then there’s the Rooney’s. From the start a pretty good lager. Decent beery aroma that you would normally find out of a tap. Has body with spice but is not over the top. Civilized yet it never lets you forget there are hops in the world. I presume its yellow, drank from the bottle. Yes, mannered and well done. Could drink a few of these. Good job Penn! Go tri-river! I’m giving an extra 0.1 just because it’s the city of champions!
