3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 estoppel (1028) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JAN 6, 2008
Tap. Amber body, small white head, hoppy nose. Fairly rich caramel body, hops shine through. Typical example of the style (which is a good thing).
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 beerbill (3047) - Laurel, New York, USA - SEP 3, 2007
On tap at the brewpub. Arrived at the table in a 16 oz. pounder a clear reddish brown with a thin film for a head that completely disappeared before my first sip. Light malt and floral aroma. The flavor was malt along with some pine. Lingering bitterness after the swallow. Medium bodied.

Dark cloudy orangy colour with off white head. Malt aroma and a strong floral hop in the aroma as well. Good malt flavours and dry hop bitters and a not to overpowering alcoholic flavour. They told me that this batch was stronger then normal at around 8.5%
I was really impressed with this variety and had to take some home to share.

Brewery. A very nice beer. A well done IPA. You can kinda tell the brewer is a hop head. He actually was brewing a batch at the time and let me try the mash. I wish my homebrew tasted like that.

Didn’t seem as hoppy as I was expecting. Appears as though most of the hopping was done latter in the boil.
the most positive feature with this beer is the way the malt shines through...almost to balanced...imperial IPA’s should leave a bitterness on your tounge that lasts for minutes, which this beer seemed to lack.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 30, 2007
My Bottom Line:
Juicy, citrusy hop fruitiness scents the biscuity, honeyed maltiness, as resinous, leafy bitterness leaves its prints on the tongue for quite a while. A very fine Double IPA from this little-known upstate New York brewpub.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam protects the hazy honey gold.
-The complex hop profile also harbors some sandy notes (redolent of Simcoe?).
-This is rather effervescent, but the well-built body may need this strong carbonation to increase drinkability.
-This is an impressive introduction to this brewpub for me.
On tap at Tap NY.
