The guys at Odell Brewing Co., Fort Collins, Colorado, visited us last year as part of a whistle stop tour of various breweries up and down the country and were kind enough to invite us to have dinner with them that evening. As we sat and ate and drank, we talked about a lot of things, including baseball and cricket, but we mostly talked about beer. Fast forward a few months to the end of last year and we were delighted when Doug Odell, founding brewer of Odell Brewing Co., sent us an email asking if we’d like to brew a beer with him. A question that took a nanosecond to respond to… yes! Several months and various emails later, Doug joined us at the Brewery for a couple of days to finalise the recipe and brew the beer. The Accomplice is a pale ale as prepared for India that’s been brewed using six different varieties of hops, crammed into almost every possible part of the brewing process, to create intense floral and fruit aromas, backed up by a balanced level of bitterness. When we suggested the name to Doug, his response was, “It sounds kinda sinister… I like it!” So, there we have it, The Accomplice is currently fermenting away and will be available in cask for a limited period from the beginning of July. We hope you enjoy drinking it as much as we enjoyed brewing it!

cask at craft 100. It pours a clean golden color with a small white head. Aroma is full of tangy grassy grainy and pine cones with melon and hops. Taste is also tangy grassy with plenty notes of melon, straw and grass. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, very tasty

Cask @ Kitty’s, Helsinki. Pours a hazy golden colour with a small foamy head. Aroma of orange, herbs and floral notes. Flavour of grassy bitterness, citrus, some herbal notes and weird astrigent notes. Light bodied. A bit off.

Cask. Unclear golden with a nice long-lasting off-white head. I do get some nutty notes here at first, beneath that there’s some fruity notes too. Smooth and fruity in taste as well. The nutty notes are present as well. Not too sweet, works out quite well in the end.

Cask @ Trades Club, Hebden Bridge. Golden-orange with a creamy head. Has a tropical fruitiness throughout its character but its strength is also always apparent and subdues the flavours, giving them a slightly stewed feel.

Bottle from Valhalla’s Goat. Hazy orange body with a thin white head that fades. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of maple syrup, pine, blood orange and a hint of pumpkin. Flavour of honeyed malts, orange sherbet, stewed tea and red apple. Minty finish. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Fizzy. Too sweet and cloying.

[6395-20140627] Cask. Fruity alcoholic malt aroma. Clear, bright orange body with a quick bubbly head. Light bitter toasted malt flavour has a bit of a boozy finish. Medium-full body. Good. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4

Bottle from BeerRitz in Leeds. Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a white head. The taste is initially pretty sharp with strong lemony citrus flavour. The finish is long and bitter. A little thin in body with no real malt flavour to back up the hops. I expected more of this one.
