Brewed exclusively for this JDW beer festival, this straw-coloured beer has freshly ground coriander added to the final half hour of the boil, together with two varieties of American hops from the Yakima Valley. This creates an intense, complex and delicious beer, with citrus orange aromas. Hops used: Cascade, Chinook

A Mes rate. Cask handpull at Baker Street ‘Sporks.
Clean gold with a good white head. Spicy and fruity. Lots of grassy hops. Lovely and dry with a quality spiced hop finish. Straight forward but very tasty and drinkable and the added spice give it a lovely prickly feel and the flavours a real kick. Good stuff.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Clouded Gold and flat. Intense flavours of pipe cleaner, lemony, fairy liqued. Really poor.

Cask handpull at The Hope Tap, JDW, Reading. Gold, lasting thick off white head. Looking forward to this as I like Roosters. Fragrant spice runs through it, doesn’t dominate but definite presence. Subtle perfumed spice on aroma, bit of caramel in flavour. Finish is pretty muted. Not very hoppy.

Cask, half pint served at the very right drinking temperature at The Wheatsheaf Bar in Stoke. Well kept beer with a delicious aroma of floral hops. Mild spiced taste with a discreet touch of soft grapefruits. Short bitter endnotes. Rather thin on the swallow. Golden-amber body with no head. Great aroma, but weaker in flavour (JDWs Real Ale Festival, 02.05.2009).

Cask at W’Spoons Northwood Hills. Golden beer with a slight head. Fresh, fruity, citrus. Hops were not overpowering. Overall not bad for a festival beer at Spoons one of the better offerings.

Cask in the new crown. Alroudn rating: Not as spicey as expected, but the corriander is key, citrusy, herbal, grassy, very different and interesting, dry finish, but id like a tad more american hop.

[Gravity cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Golden amber. Initial taste of straw and farmyard, slight carbonation. Flavour grows to reveal earth and then a spicy tingle, which I couldn’t identify as coriander particularly but was nevertheless quite pleasant. Some fruit, smoke and bitter citrus in finish. After disliking this initially, I grew to like it quite a lot. c5
