3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft at the Furnace Inn (Derby)
My last visit to the pubs in the area revealed a few hidden treasures. With more time I am sure I could have discovered more but this has been a very memorable summer of rating. A perfect vision of an American IPA is well executed and a good deal on tap.
Aroma / Appearance - A carbonated golden body has bronze tones around the edges. Citrus, grapefruit, and a bright texture bring to mind a prototypical West Coast IPA from the wrong coast.
Flavor / Palate - Lemons, roses, and grass clippings tickle the tongue. The mouthfeel then carries into a light bitter finish that doesn’t destroy the palate after just a few sips. Flavorful and sessionable it was the highlight of the evening’s trip out.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pale stagnant yellow body. Nothing of note nose, touches of lemon and sandwich egg mayonnaise. Watery crisp initial taste, kitchen cleaning spray middle (in a good non-toxic way!) and a bitter undercurrent from start to finish. Zesty light linger, decent hop spread for the ABV but no body to speak of.
