Cask conditioned handpump Mr Foleys Leeds 23/09/12. A golden beer with a white head and lacing. Nice citrussy grapefruity fresh hoppy aroma. I thought these hops were New Zealand but apparently not. Anyway it tastes really good too. The hops are again lively and although the malts a little sweeter than I’d like they just about manage to balance effectively. A tasty beer no doubt.

Tastes of pale malt, light fruit tones and a little citrus.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation with a smooth finish.

25th April 2012: Hand pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons. Pale to light amber body, clean and clear, head was thin and almost white in colour.
Aroma of summer fruits with an overcoat of citrus intent at all times.
The taste was also fruity, with grapefruit being the main ‘stand out’ flavour for me. As the beer warmed the bitterness seemed to be less pronounced and the flavours began to become more sweet (almost orangey).
I wanted another pint, but I was on a mission so had to move on, pity because I’m not sure I’ve done this brew a fair review or justice.

Cask at the Tilly Shilling (JDW), Farnborough. Amber with a thin white head; citrus aroma; sharp citrus flavour with some resinous hops and an oily body; sustained, but fairly gentle, bitterness to finish.

Tasted this in The Esquire House, Glasgow in June 2012. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale amber in colour with a thin white head. Slight citrus note in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malt base gives a long citric fruit flavour of grapefruit, tart kiwis and fresh lemon juice. Dusty hop resins compliment the malt well with a floral lemony note which becomes dry and quite astringent. The finish is rather sweeter though with tangerine and satsumas evident in the mouth. Not as dry and tart as I was expecting in at the end however. This is an ok Golden Ale but there are so many better examples than this out there now.

Cask Last Post. Pours light amber with decent thick head. Peach, apricot and Oddfellows on the nose. Citrus overpowers all else in the mouth and not the worse for it. Def some Cascade,Simcoe ,Challenger to the fore. Not bad at all considering this followed a Jarl .
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 fairwater (100) - Reading, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 30, 2012
UPDATED: JUN 8, 2012 Cask @ Back of Beyond. Slightly hazy pale gold, no head. Orange and tropical fruit aroma. Tropical fruits at first taste, fading to leave a lingering grapefruit bitterness. Served nice and cold, very refreshing summer pale ale.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2012 Clear, light gold; no head; essentially bitter grapefruit juice; a fair ladleful of hops; a very bitter finish; too acerbic for me, but solid enough if you like this sort of thing
