COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Walrus & Carpenter in Monument, London, was the venue for the launch of a new summer ale we’ve brewed with and for Nicholson’s pubs, as part of their latest guest ale programme.

The recipe for Welsummer, a 4.5% pale ale, brewed using a blend of four American hops (Cascade, Chinook, Citra & Eldorado) and named after a breed of chicken, was devised by a group of the pub company’s managers, following an afternoon spent sampling various ingredients at the brewery in early May.

The beer will be available across the Nicholson’s estate until the end of August.

Cask @ The Drum & Monkey. Golden orange colour, good head. Grassy grain malt aroma. Spicy hoppy malt flavour. Sharp with smooth finish. Quite distinctive.

Cask handpull at Old Buttermarket Canterbury. Clear gold colour lasting off white head. Hoppy pale ale. Interesting to have this after Gadds She Sells which frankly is better. Good condition and sound though

On tap @ the Haymarket. Pours golden and clear with a decent head. The nose has elderflower mostly maybe with a lemon note. The taste is more of the elderflower and now the grapefruit kicks in. The palate is medium bodied with a tangy texture and a clean finish. Overall, another good beer.

Excellent! Yummy. This is a beer brewed for the summer by Roosters and in partnership with - for - Nicholson’s pubs. It was described as a pale ale although it wasn’t that pale to look at. It was very interesting ..... lots of complex flavours from ingredients I wasn’t sure I’d tasted before. Well balanced and well rounded complex herby, citrus hoppy ale that leaves you wanting more.

Cask conditioned handpump Princess Of Wales London 23/07/12. A golden beer with a white bubbly head. Good citrussy hops in the nose with a bit of biscuity malt. Bitter, dry and biscuity in the mouth. Quite a depp long finish. Not bad.

Cask at The Sir Christopher Hatton, Nicholson’s, London. Pours clear yellow-gold with a frothy white head. Tangy, dry grass nose with some zippy, zesty citrus and hay. Light to medium sweet flavor with some doughy malts, sugary citrus, orange, lemon and mango. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Faint resins in the finish, more citrus and hay, dry white bread toast, faint biscuits and dough, light toasted grass. Very decent and exceptionally well balanced.
