3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2007 - North American Organic Brewers Festival – Portland, Oregon
Deep dark color with a thick head. The chocolate and malts come out at the first then the hotness of the peppers hit at the end. This was a fun and great beer to drink. Loved the beer from the start to the finish. The heat is there just need to wait it will hit. A great beer to try and get used to something different.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at KLCC Microbrewfest. Pours out a deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee with a light bit of spicy pepper. Flavor is mostly thin chocolate and coffee until a little after the sip goes down, and then the pepper bludgeons you. An interesting beer for sure, but not one I need to have again.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
KLCC Microbrewfest ’09: Dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is roasty, smokey, coffee, and just a little hint of the pepper. Flavor is heavy in roast, near burnt malt/even a bit ashy. Some pepper hotness comes through. Very faint chocolate, I felt like I got a lot of ashtray out of this. Needs more R&D.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap... Poured black with an off-white head. Like a typical dry stout with a little sweetness from the chocolate and roasted malt with the hot spiciness in the finish from the habenero, but not too peppery in flavor like I expected. I didn’t drink a whole pint, but I could imagine that through a whole imperial pint the peppers may start to take over.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Draft. A pitch black beer with a red shine under a thin brown head. The aroma is buttery and spicy. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of chili which grows in intensity and ends up burning the tongue, besides that there are notes of butter and diacethyl. Interesting, but remove the butter and diacethyl to make a drinable beer.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours dark brown with a thin soft tan head. Thin body and slightly watery on the palate. I was disapointed in the base beer although the peppers were well done. Cocoa sweetness up front with a quick bitter chocolate finish before the pepper heat kicks in. The concept is great, but the stout base just wasn’t what I was looking for, could stand to be more bold and roasty to bring it to life. It felt a bit one sided, not much time spent on the stout and instead focused on how much pepper to add.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour took almost a week. At first sniff this is a typical nitro stout. It has a smooth, chocolatey character...with heat. A tangy, late pickled habanero heat. That’s it, though...bland chocolatey stout with late heat.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the Roots brewpub during ABA Beer Tour 07. Pours almost opaque dark brown brew with a decent off-white head. Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee with other scents of flowery hops, and roasted multi grain bread. Taste is full bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of chocolate and coffee. The finish is when the habenero pepper kicks in. Finish is semi-dry spicey with a slight tobacco aftertaste. The habenero makes the finish so dry that I needed another beer to smooth out my palate.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark with a hearty off white head. Spice in the nose and front, but no where near as spicy as I would have imagined. The chocolate definitely cooled off this enjoyable beer.
