We hand smoke 60 pounds of of malt over cherry wood soaked in glenlivet, cognac and cherry juice that lends wonderful smoked toffee and cherry notes both to the palate and the nose and a warm bitter sweet finish. With over 1,700 pounds of malt and 65 pounds of hops make this a truly epic ale. The 2006 vintage is 13.5% abv.

Stone Sour Fest shared by Floydster. Thanks a lot! Bottle #199/200. Copper brown with a gusher head. Malt and yeast nose. Sweet spices. Warming on the nose. Taste is alcohol, dark fruit, with a sharp malt finish. Licorice hidden in there?

Bottle shared at Noogfest High 5. Poured hazy copper brown color with an average frothy light brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy hop and malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark fruit sweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration. Very good brew that I would recommend to a freind.

Sample from Noogfest High 5. The body was reddish brown with a yelloing khaki head. This was overcarbonated. The bread dough and raisin aroma was fairly pleasing. Taste of sweet peanuts and caramel. There was a slightly dry woody finish. Nice stuff, they need to get the carbonation down.

Sampled at Noogfest High 5. Pours reddish brown with huge beige head and heavy carbonation. The aroma is caramel, peat, some carob, and pennies. The flavor is earth, peat, lots of sweet caramel, and a little bit of fruitiness. Pretty good beer, but there I just have a hard time getting into it.

2007. Thanks CSchwaz! Heavily oxidized malt aroma, some raspberry essence. Mousey chestnut. More oxidized malt and brown sugar, to a fault in my opinion. Warms with raw alcohol in the finish.

Magnum, ’07. Thanks, CSchwaz! Pours an opaque dark brown with rubied highlights. Dense, creamy tan ring of bubbly foam. Tangy, pruney, plummy, caramelly nose. Some earthy hops and roastiness showing through. Creamy body, a little on the high side of medium but surprisingly restrained in density. Toasty, roasty notes on the mid-palate, along with all the dark fruits from the nose. Big earthy hop notes there that will definitely go all tobacco and leather in a couple years. This is a beautiful beer for aging.
