3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft: 1 finger tan head that is pure cream. Looks like a nitro pour but its CO2. Aroma of vanilla creme and chocolate. Flavor is quite mellow and smooth for an Imperial. It has coffee and chocolate notes and is malty but everything is smoother. Hint of vanilla. The roastiness and bitterness come in at the end. Very easy drinking for an imperial.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured black, big head that had to be spooned off and topped off. Smelled of chocolate and tasted of chocolate. Very syrupy. Aftertaste is a bit pungent and sour. Speaking of sour, the service at Roots is just that.

On tap at Roots, Portland. I had this down as 9.0%, but hey. Black colour with ruby edges. Disappearing tan head. Intense malt coffee/choc aroma. Quite thick and syrupy in mouth. Some sourness develops. Some nice black fruits, damson, plum. Juicy really. Bit of tar/molasses. Fruit is nice though. Good Impy stout. Dryish hop finish. Very well made.

Near black colour. Really toasty, nutty...toasted coconut maybe. They use it in a porter so I wouldn’t be surprised. Soft, a little watery actually but with toasted malt and light dark fruit flavours.

Draught at the brewpub. Very dark ruby. Aroma of licorice and coffee. Sweet with rounded mouthfeel. Very roasty and really malty with plenty of licorice and aniseed. Stays away form the sticky sweetness that plagues many Imperial Stouts. I like this one!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This was mocha-licious. Deep rich dark brown in color wtih a small foamy tan head. Lots of coffee in the nose, and some milk chocolate in the flavor. Very malty and not verly roasted but also not overly complex. Just a simple imperial stout, that makes for a great session and very easy to drink.

Pours a light orange color, cascading dark brown color while the bubbles drift up. Some malty coffee nose, some sour notes, mostly sour coffee and dark fruit, 0thin body with some tinny flavors. A simple imperial stout.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUL 21, 2005 Pours a dark, sort of blackish, brown color. A very roasty and chocolate smell rises from this outstanding stout. The flavor of this beer is very amazing. A near perfect balance of roasted malts, with hints of toffee and light hops. All these great flavors mask the alcohol this beer has.

On tap at the Blue Monk in Portland. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Tons of very roasty malts in the aroma, big chocolate/cocoa presence. Flavor is very rich hiding the alcohol very well under a thick sweet malt base. Finish has a light mocha flavor trailing off with the hop bitter finish.
