BückDich (4525), Boise, Idaho, USA Nov 19, 2007 Tap @ Brewpub: Mahogany, no head or lacing. Nose of sweet light caramel and sugar, lots of melanoidins. The flavor is a bit spicy with hops, earthy, nutty and spruce and tangerine in the finish. Not doing much for me but it’s good. Malty tail. DA (2376), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Mar 27, 2007 My third time trying this beer, first two times I thought they served me the wrong beer. Pours thick cloudy amber with a soft off-white head. Big citrus hop nose with a sweet resin note to it. Not as much sweetness as I was expecting from a strong ale, more just like a winter IPA aiming for a big bitter finish with a lot of grapefruit character. Vac (2231), San Diego, California, USA Apr 28, 2008 On tap at Hamiltons. Pours with a deep amber body topped by a pencil thin head with little lacing. It’s sweet and malty yet bitter and hoppy with a some pine notes. Full bodied and warming. Angeloregon (1823), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 26, 2007 On tap at Roots Organic Brewing in PDX--Poured a rich mahogany-amber body with a minuscule off-white head. Nose of sweet malts and piquant PNW hops. Nutty, earthy, and piny with a rich bountiful mouth feel. Very enjoyable brew! WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Feb 8, 2008 10th rating of this beer, 4th Brewery 07-08 Brew Trip with Bikesandbeer. Listed as festivus winter ale, pours dark orange with an off white head. Nose holiday spicey but light. Taset is sweet with a slight spicey edge. Not bad.
