omhper (9704), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 20, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Hazy reddish brown. Citric hop aroma. Really dry with clean mouthfeel. Dominated by the citric hops, but roasty malt lures underneath. The dryness lifts up the hop flavour, but makes the finish almost inky. Oakes (6556), Miami Beach, Canada Mar 4, 2006 Amber-red with some haze. Toasty, lightly smokey dark malt character. Fairly bitter, rooty (good one, Oakes!), earthy with great support from caramelly malts. The ingredients are well-matched. Surprised about the oats but everything goes so well in this beer it must be a good call. harrisoni (4551), Ashford, Kent, England Nov 7, 2006 On tap at Roots, Portland. Hazy deep red/brown colour. Lovely hoppy aroma, grapefruit and red berries. Good body of juicy malt holds for a second and then follows a lovely drying hop finish. the initial hit of malt and hop though is stunning. Great. Came to Portland suspicious of amber type beer, but now found 2 big winners, this and Laurelwood Organic Red. Lovely juicy red fruit malt. BückDich (4395), Boise, Idaho, USA Nov 19, 2007 Tap @ Brewpub: Caramel ruby color, light head and lacing. Nose of nutty sweet caramel and husk, light chocolate and hop resins. Balanced sticky mouthfeel with a complex malt profile. Noticeable hops. Average. acrdz (3892), Pennsylvania, USA Jul 23, 2005 Dark orange and red colors, almost brown, and very murky. Low carbonation it seems, and the first drink is sweet and thick bready meat and malt, before it turns into an onrush of bittering hops, unsweetened grains and sour brown ale qualities. Weird, for sure... and like a Flemish Sour without the sourness. Very thick, very creamy with light oats and coffee... the stout qualities are there but are really strange, and I don’t know if I would have picked them up had I not known there were oats in this beer.
