harrisoni (4551), Ashford, Kent, England Nov 7, 2006 On tap at Roots, Portland. Hazy deep red/brown colour. Lovely hoppy aroma, grapefruit and red berries. Good body of juicy malt holds for a second and then follows a lovely drying hop finish. the initial hit of malt and hop though is stunning. Great. Came to Portland suspicious of amber type beer, but now found 2 big winners, this and Laurelwood Organic Red. Lovely juicy red fruit malt. jah noth (913), Rochester, New York, USA Dec 20, 2007 Caramel and cherries and lemons exude from the thick head. Hazy red amber in color. Noticeable roasty malts combine with some oaty creaminess followed by a wallop of citric hops. Extra credit for its uniqueness. YUM! Angeloregon (1260), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 9, 2008 Thanks to Craig for pouring this special beer for me at Roots in Portland, Oregon--Rich hazy amber-dark copper-caramel body with a wispy inviting whitish head. Nose of robust malts and invigoratingly resinous hops. Full, sticky, chewy mouth feel. Flavor was gritty, earthy, roasty and bitter. Finished with a nice biting bitter citrus hops profile and a worthy malt spine. This one gets an A. SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA Mar 24, 2007 A nice malty Red but very hoppy and creamy also. Medium bitterness cutting through the medium to thick mouthfeel. A very full flavored red. Hits your palate all over. acrdz (3892), Pennsylvania, USA Jul 23, 2005 Dark orange and red colors, almost brown, and very murky. Low carbonation it seems, and the first drink is sweet and thick bready meat and malt, before it turns into an onrush of bittering hops, unsweetened grains and sour brown ale qualities. Weird, for sure... and like a Flemish Sour without the sourness. Very thick, very creamy with light oats and coffee... the stout qualities are there but are really strange, and I don’t know if I would have picked them up had I not known there were oats in this beer.
