Angeloregon (1549), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 1, 2007 On tap at Concordia Alehouse--Another fine Roots creation. Poured a burnished amber-sienna hue with a wispy whitish head. Nose of sweet fruits and hibiscus/elderberry flowers. Sweet, saccharine, tart and sharp flavor profile. Big on the sour side. Astringient and rather dry mouth feel. Great beer! SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA Sep 29, 2007 Draft: Pours a reddish color with thin white head. Aroma of some caramel malts and some definite herbal and flower qualities, some hints of pepper and definitely some clove and lemon. Flavor is mildly malty with lots of flower and herbal flavor, definitely can taste the hibiscus used in this. And the lemon will suddenly cut through at some points as if you are biting into one. There is some noticeable light hop bitterness. Peppercorns are evident only if you know to look for them. Tastes nice at first but halfway through the pint it really starts to take its toll on the palate and become a little too much. The dryness of tis beer, which is of course to style, just makes all the spices dry way too much on the tonge and fuck up the palate.
