Bottle from Peter Wagner Imkerei, Jugenheim OT Balkhausen
Corked with a traditional cork, of bad quality, that broke; the beekeeper has surely large supplies of wax, nevertheless I wish he didn’t use it to seal the cork.
It pours a light amber color, with many cork particles. The aroma is initially one of the strongest, flowery honey aroma in Mead; then there is acacia honey, wildflower honey, too perfumy for my liking.
The flavor is sweet, but the mouthfeel is lean; there is a strong flavor of common honey and beewax; in the final there is a combination of alcohol and bitterness that is not exactly pleasant, and is probably due to some fermentation mishandling.
Unimpressive.
