2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Marsiblursi (2952) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAR 12, 2009
(Bottle, thanks omhper!) Pours copper red with an off-white/light sand-colored head. The aroma is heavily sweet and medium spicy with tones of white sugar, honey, cookies, bread, caramel, soft fruit candy, mint/menthol and liquorice-like anise alongside hints of cinnamon. Herbal hops lurking in the background. A tiny touch of band aid-like phenols and rust. The flavour is medium to heavily sweet and light bitter with tones of white sugar/candi sugar, cookies, caramel, fruit candy, liquorice, anise, menthol, herbs and light band-aid. The mouthfeel is clean - too clean/sterile/lifeless to be an enjoyable Belgian Bubbel. Medium carbonation. Spices, herbs and an almond paste and marzipan-like sweetness lingers. Medium boded.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ungstrup (26476) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - DEC 13, 2008
Bottled. A red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with spicy notes of star anise as well as some others, and a bit of caramel. The flavor is very sweet again with strong spicy notes of primarily star anise, but also som cloves with weak notes of caramel , over ripe fruits, and dusty hops underneath. The finish is dry and spicy and the star anise note lingers for a long time. Too powerful on the star anise for me.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 lghansen (26) - DENMARK - AUG 24, 2008
Color was brown and cloudy. Very foamy tan head. This was an interesting beer, spiced with anise for a sweet licorice flavor. A pleasant anise aroma is also present. Good when pared with something sweet. The alcohol strength is well hidden in this beer.

Let og sødlig smag af frugt (blomme/rosin), stjerneanis (for meget), julekrydderier og lidt karamel. Medium krop. For meget stjerneanis til den noget "tynde" smag.
