Aroma: moderately roasted malty.
Appearance: large, frothy, light brown, initial head with mostly lasting longevity. Dark brown body.
Taste: moderately sweet initial taste with moderately bitter finish and long duration.
Palate: medium-bodied with dry texture and soft carbonation.
Overall: outstanding. Great taste--somewhat complex but not overpowering. I look forward to drinking this beer again.

Pours a deep brown with a frothy off white head that adds a little creamy texture to your early sips. It actually sticks around for a while. Flavor has some nice toasty grain aspects to it and a candi sugar sweetness that is pleasant. A step up from a straight lager to add a little more depth and complexity to your drink. Faint grass and herb aromas. Finish is much the same from that hop profile. Solid sessionable beer.

650ml bottle pours a reddish brown color with about a finger of white head which settles slowly leaving some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is light roasted malts with some dark fruit. Taste is light roasted malt sweetness with some dark fruitness and a light hoppy bitter finish. Light to medium body and moderate carbonation leave a nice mouthfeel. This is a well done lager with qualities of a German bock and quite tasty.

Bottle from brewolf...thanks Michael! - Pours with a creamy tan head on a dark cola body. Dark bready malt on the nose, with light yeast, baking spices, and a pleasant blend of nuttiness and milkiness. Taste is pumpernickel bread--pretty dry with a hint of brown sugar and a pretty milky finish. There’s a sharpness in there too--not sure if that’s the hops or a little roasted malt. Creamy and smooth in the mouth. Didn’t know what to expect, as I know little about this style, but I was pleasantly surprised.

On tap at Fremont Oktoberfest Seattle, WA. Pours dark brown with shades of black...no head, white lacing, and evidence of little carbonation. Slightly roasted aroma and light fruity esthers. Close your eyes and it might as well be BMC beer in this cup. No roasted nor toasted flavors present. Slightly medicinal finish and astringent mouthfeel. Rough finish to say the least.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 5000 (4967) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - APR 14, 2011
Bottle:   Deep ruby, heavy on the brown hues, moderate to large foamy sandy head, nice lacing.   Soft roasted malts and whole wheat bread on the nose.   Soft ash and roasted malts up front, but they die rather quickly.   Beer seems a little lighter/thinner than I remember it being.   Its clean, but not terribly robust.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, but leaning towards the thin side.   Yeah, finishes clean and fairly smooth, but just lacks some more depth and body.   Not bad tho.

cola brown. fresh chewy toast and roasted nut nose with mild bready and powedery yeast. medium body up front, thinning finish. low hop flavor and bitterness. malt-forward medium sweetness with medium acid. nutty, toast thin finish.

22 oz. bottle from trade (I can’t remember who). Pours a clear deep reddish brown with a small off white ring. The aroma had an initial sweet maltiness with touches of dark fruit, light floral and the slightest nuttiness. The flavor is dark fruits, some roasted malt, floral, dusty almost char, and lightly nutty. The finish is dry with a light bitterness.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 CheersMate (1292) - Fremont (Seattle), Washington, USA - NOV 5, 2010
22 oz. bottle Translucent brown with a wispy head. Slight nuttiness, but mainly I’m smelling dark fruit -- figs, for me. Not much of an aroma, in fact, this beer isn’t pungent whatsoever. The head faded away rather quickly. The flavor is a bit dull. The beer has some nuttiness, and sweetness coming from the malts, but not much. This beer is quite boring, and texture isn’t great either. I should have possibly imbibed this at a much cooler temperature.
