COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A mild dark lager with a distinct character, and closely resembles the lager handcrafted by the German brewmeisters at the original Roslyn Brewery one hundred years ago. We use our own recipe of Roslyn water, fresh from the Cascade Mountains, four types of malted barley and three hop varieties to produce this smooth lager.

22 oz. bottle- Pours almost black with little head, aroma isn’t much, some malt. The flavor is also very malty with a bitter aftertaste, it’s mellow, drinkable and interesting but not great.

22 oz. bottle from trade (I can’t remember who). Pours a clear deep reddish brown with a small off white ring. The aroma had an initial sweet maltiness with touches of dark fruit, light floral and the slightest nuttiness. The flavor is dark fruits, some roasted malt, floral, dusty almost char, and lightly nutty. The finish is dry with a light bitterness.

22 oz. Bottle: Dark amber color with a minimal light brown head. Sweet malty aroma of alcohol, roasted nuts with sugar on them and a woody thing going on. Wood and smoke and a deep musty taste along with an earthy notes as well. Thin body with a slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad. Thanks Indiana_Red for sharing this Washington specialty.

Deep brown beer, no head. Aroma is farily clean. Sweet toast and toffee. Caramelly and well decocted. Flavour is okay, a bit plasticy, but otherwise nicely sweet and toasty.

Maybe I just can’t appreciate a lager properly but I was disappointed. As far as lagers go I enjoyed this more than most but I still felt that there was a lack of complexity I could just not get over. It was very crisp and clean and did avoid some of things that most lagers don’t as far as flavor goes. Whan I lived in MN and had yet to be exposed to craft brews I would have raved about this but what can I say I’ve been spoiled since.

Dark mahogany with a filmy head and spotty lacing. Roast and some chocolate in the nose. A touch bitter. The flavor is mostly same as the nose with the exception being notes of coffee. Light bodied and dry finishing roasty.

Draught @ WABF 2008. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a malty caramel aroma with some weak hints of hops. Sweetish slightly roasted malty caramel flavor with some bready hints. Also some hoppy hints. Sweetish malty caramel finish.

Bottle - 22oz. Flat. No carbonation. No head. That being said; the malt is rich and smooth. Light sweetness with a cereal grain essense. A little nutty and earthy. Wish I got one that had a little CO2 left on the bottle. Liked the bottle art!
