Courtesy dsnowden. This was my first mead experience. This poured a deep red color and smelled of dark berries. The blackberry was themost dominant smell. The flavor was much the same with the blackberry really coming through. This didn’t have much honey flavor at all since the blackberries dominated everything. It was really thick and sweet with a big syrupy mouthfeel. This was nice for my first mead, really huge on the flavor.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JMFG (1585) - Florida, USA - OCT 6, 2007
Courtesy dsnowden. Deep purple color, no head. Purple grapeskins, plums, and jam on the aroma. Thick mouthfeel, moves slowly in the glass. General grape/berry taste that is extremely sweet. The finish is real sweet and has just a touch of dryness to it, despite all the sweetness.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 CheesedMan (550) - Saint Cloud, Florida, USA - OCT 3, 2007
Poured the color of a well extracted Shiraz. Aroma is jammy and sweet blackberries. Flavor is sweet blackberries all the way. Not much honey showing through. Insanely viscous.

It aint easy being cheesy!! Courtesy dsnowden. Pours a dark clear red. Almost looks like wine in the glass. Smells of big dark berry flavors. The blackberry was for certain the most prominent. Rich and thick smelling as you’d expect. The flavor and palate was much the same. There wasnt much trace of honey as the blackberry flavor masks most everything. Extremely thick and sweet. Would make for a good dessert drink anytime. Its good if you like berry flavored drinks. the flavor is pretty monstrous.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - OCT 2, 2007
Courtesy dsnowden. Thick, syrupy looking, purple grape juice color. Smooth, glassy finish. Thick legs coat the glass and take eons to return to the body. The aroma is beautiful and sweet, showing fresh blackberries, grape jam, honey, and mild vinous fruits. The flavor is intensely sweet, with sweet blackberries and tart raspberries filling the mouth with fresh, fruit flavor. Thick, full body that coats the mouth completely. Finishes slick and clean. Awesome dessert beverage.

(375ml bottle) Seems like this mead gets around. Pours a deep grape-drink coloured body with a slightly oily leg. Nose of blackberry, seeds, honey and Welch’s grape concentrate. Strong syrup flavour with a mild port wine tinge, too sweet for solely honey and too berry for anybody to truly adore. A brew for rich Japanese tourists to gloat about.

Oakes and Poperinge saved me a few ounces from their tasting. Aroma of alcohol, blackberry and honey. Scent of blackberry wine. Thick dark purple colour. Flavour is sugar cube sweet. Blackberry liqueur-like. Definitely a sipper. Drink in small quantities or pour on pancakes or ice cream.
