MrManning (1458), London, Ontario, Canada Oct 7, 2008 375 ml bottle from the LCBO- Deep golden pour. Some legging left after the swirl. Aroma is fresh apples, caramel, a bit of vanilla, floral. Tastes of caramelized sweet apple, some sugar, and a bit of spice. Very drinkable, and not as oily as most Iced Ciders that I have had. Still a lovely treat. jjpm74 (3447), Connecticut, USA Dec 3, 2007 Pours yellow and still with a decent neck. Smells of apples and hay with some touches of spice. Tastes of tarte apples that eventually give way to a nice sweet touch with elements of honey present. Finish yields a touch of dryness. Not the best ice cider I’ve had, but solid. SoLan (1188), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 11, 2007 Courtesy dnsowden. Gold/orange. Still. Aroma of sweet and tart apples and apple juice, booze, whisky malt?, floral notes. Similar flavor- rich, sweet and lightly tart up front and mellows to light honey and something like lowland scotch. Full/medium body, viscous but not too much so. Decent, a little too much alcohol presence for 11%. boboski (1095), USA Oct 10, 2007 Updated: Oct 11, 2007Cider residue cascades back into the glass and leaves small, jagged speckles in its wake, no legs accounted for. The body is a deep golden tint, orange and burnt caramel hued. Overripened apples and must with unusual clarity dominate the staunch assault on the senses that is the initial nosing. Powdered caramel and tropical fruit undertones follow but are lost among the apples, even though that fruit is muddled and nowhere near peak form. Alcohol is evident and takes on a liquor-infusco formation that doesn’t mesh with the apple notes and is sorely misplaced. Scotch(barrel spice) notes, along with hints of saturated wood, make close observation intertesting but trying. The flavor is full of sucrose notes that tug at what little available tartness there is before smothering it, crushing it in a toppling show of strength. Sugars are caramelized and seem to coat the apple essence, leaving only the skin and core - the pure and most vegetal elements of the fruit behind for further analysis. There is a definite whiskey/liquor quality that stems from a combination of musty barrel notes and old fruit. Acidity is high but nearly strangled lifeless by thickened, cloying sweetness that teeters on the brink of undrinkable. Ironically, the mustiness saves this and keeps hints of balance at the forefront of the flavor...momentarily. This is a strange one. The finish is sticky sweet, as earthy and straight-up sugary as it is cider-esque in a traditional sense. The mouthfeel is too sticky, heavy and lifeless(not a moment’s thought about the lack of carbonation, that’s to be expected-this is just so boring and substandard). Quite interesting but nothing I’ll return to in the future. TheCheeseMan (515), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Oct 10, 2007 Poured a deep amber color. Aroma is flat, with an applesauce, Mott’s like aroma. Some touch of light pie spice. The alcohol is very evident, almost annoyingly so. Flavor is very light with a slightly warming finish. Sweet apple juice is dominant, almost rendering this a one dimensional beast. There is the faintest hint of acidity, that helps the tiniest bit. Decent, but pales in comparison to others.
