2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 ounce via trade. Some cinnamon in nose. Body really thin for a porter. But overall itís likely infected. The sour vinegar is obviously not intended here. Need to check the barrels itís aged in. It does have the cherry note, but I think itís gone more sour than need be for what is promised.

1.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Another disaster from Roth Brewing. Starts with a nice, cinnamon-like aroma, but it is all downhill from there. Hard to put into words just how bad this was. Distinctive taste of cigarette ashes to this one. Run, donít walk away from this one!

Aroma and taste are both medicinal. Sadly, this was a very disappointing beer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear dark brown with ring of tan head. Aroma is more cocoa and roast than cinnamon. Flavor has the cinnamon more pronounced, but it plays a supporting role to the base beer, instead of taking center stage, which I actually kinda liked. I will say though, it did seem a bit old and somewhat oxidized/cardboardy, so maybe a fresh bottle would be better? Pretty much just a decent strait drinking porter. Nothing special, nothing wrong.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 oz. bottle from SoHo Organic Market in Elizabeth City, NC. Thick, dark brown pour with a beautiful brown head. Aroma of cinnamon mostly at first but this fades a bit and caramel and coffee tend to make their way through. Thankfully the cinnamon is understated in the flavor because a little can go a long way here. Given the thick appearance of this one it is surprisingly thin with no richness of the coffee and chocolate flavors found in a porter. Decent.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours an almost black color with a small head. Back when I used to drink coffee regularly, I would often brew it with cinnamon. The nose on this really reminds me of that coffee - strong notes of cinnamon with coffee undertones to it. The taste is heavy on the cinnamon with some coffee and chocolate hints underneath. Very interesting brew...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Porterís, Raleigh. Dark pour, dusted with sediment and a cafe au lait head. Strong nose of cinnamon powder, almost like the sweet stuff in Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Mouthfeel is substantial, and seems like theyíve worked to improve the base beer considerably since Samís and Daveís ratings. Still just solid, not earth-shaking, but the mild spice and strong malts (more roasted than sweet, despite the description) make for an enjoyable sipper.
