Wheat is an important and typical flavor carrier in this type of beer. As with all other beers we also work at Rothaus Hefeweizen with a slightly higher original gravity of 12.5%.

In addition to the fine hop bitterness (13 bitter units), Rothaus Hefeweizen is typical of the variety, with another important flavor component, the yeast. In Hefeweizen the yeast is not mixed, but a top-fermenting yeast is used. Unlike our other beers, it comes with unfiltered wheat beer bottling.

Ingredients: water, wheat malt, barley malt, hops, hop extract, yeast.

Draught@White Horse Parsons Green, London. Hazy orange colour, small creamy white head. Aroma is wheat, yeast, fruits and some slight herbal notes. Flavour is quite much the same in a nice balanced. Served a bit too cold, but turned out really nice as it warmed up a bit.

Bottle. It pours a hazy, yellow-orange body with a nice and big white head leaving lacings. Very chewing-gum like nose with banana-like fruityness and some cloves and hop-notes. In a strange way reminiscent of french fries. Sweet, banana-fruity flavor with some cloves and bitterness, as well as wheaty sugarness. Full-bodied, very effervescent and rather sticky in the mouth. Sweet, fruity, bananaish finish with a hint of bitterness and cloves. Quite cloying actually, not a beer I long to revisit. 091008

bottle, on several occasions. Cloudy yellow colour with a large white head. Malty-yeasty nose. Wheaty and malty with mango and banana. Not too much carbonation, just right. Well-balanced Hefeweizen.

Bottled: Rocky white head, hazy orange color. Sweet wheat aroma, fruity (mainly oranges and orange pits), parfume. Flavor is smooth, light sweet, fruity with notes of oranges, hints of bananas and lemon. Pretty good stuff.
