COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wheat is an important and typical flavor carrier in this type of beer. As with all other beers we also work at Rothaus Hefeweizen with a slightly higher original gravity of 12.5%.

In addition to the fine hop bitterness (13 bitter units), Rothaus Hefeweizen is typical of the variety, with another important flavor component, the yeast. In Hefeweizen the yeast is not mixed, but a top-fermenting yeast is used. Unlike our other beers, it comes with unfiltered wheat beer bottling.

Ingredients: water, wheat malt, barley malt, hops, hop extract, yeast.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2007 Bottle, from Riepen, Harrislee. Pours a quite hazy and very deep yellow. Head is medium and quite frothy. Aroma has a good fruity banana note with some slight apples and strawberries. Quite low carbonated, giving it a frothy mouthfeel. Flavour is a little tart, very spicy and a good dose of citric bitterness at the end. This is a case of rather bitter and sour hefe, more than a sweet one. That is not to say it is bad - very fresh.

[bottle] Estery and sweet candy aroma, with a little banana, but mostly ripe or overripe strawberry. Quite orange and cloudy with a nice white cover that survives for quite a while. The flavour is a nice blend of clove and bubblegum and maybe banana that blend well, making not one of them really obvious. Sort of a nice bitter corriander rounds off the flavour nicely as well; a bit more bitter than most of this style, but it works. Medium body, high carbonation, clean finish.

You can’t see your hand through the glass! Nice fluffy head. Citrusy, tangy flavor - I prefer my Hefeweizens to have more of a banana taste.

Got this one in Stuttgart 07. Very opaque has nice aroma of apples and bannana, and flavour is satisfying, but a bit too sweet.

BB 23.05.07 Code 3064103      Pours an opaque-hazed golden/orange with a creamy white head that left soft lace trails. A touch of wet dog is the only detterence to the yeasty aroma of banana with lemon and light orange zest. Ripe banana reigns supreme in the flavor and comes back strong in the aftertaste while mild, tart lemons round out the fruitiness. Soft and fluffy in the mouth. A great yeast-experience.

Handsome hefeweizen pour, a hazy straw body with a tall foamy head. It smells like freshly sliced bananas with a touch of clove and a subdued suggestion of a lemon twist. This is very light and pillowy in the mouth. The flavor is full of ripe bananas, bubblegum, and a touch of lemon. It leaves the mouth feeling like you’ve just had a tasty fresh banana. Nice.

Hazy golden. Light yeasty aroma. Light in palate and flavor. Citrusy lemon flavor. Had a slight dirt taste. Not one of the better hefes I’ve tried.

Very golden and cloudy with a huge, nice head. Both aroma and flavour signals a good German weiss. It has light sweetness, notes of wheat, fruit (banana) and no bitterness. It’s a nice weizen, perhaps a bit too sweet in the long run, and it might have more body IMO.

Cloudy deep yellow colour with a frothy lastig white head. Wheaty sweet aroma with notes of yeast and banana. Wheaty, quite sweet and fruity flavor with a dry, sweet and light yeasty finish.
