31/VII/2012 - 33cl bottle from Aktivmarkt (Ramstein) @ hotel room (Ladenburg) - BB: 27/XII/12 - (2012-798)

Cloudy yellow beige beer, small creamy white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: mushy banana, bit bready, sour grains, touch of wood. MF: too much carbon, light to medium body. Taste: very sour start, both from the carbon and from the wheat, I guess. Lemon juice, some sweet grains, bit of green banana. Aftertaste: sourish, lemony, more banana, some grains, citric hops. Tastes more refreshing than most Hefe’s, but because of that, it’s less like a Hefe.

Bottle shared with MichaelBruch. Very light and easy for a Hefeweizen, was very disappointed on this one. Small hints of banana in the aftertaste.

0,5 l bottle shared with McTapps. Pours like an average weizen, smells like an average weizen and tastes like a below average weizen. You can get the same for 30 eurocent at a discounter. Sour and cheap stuff.

Bottle courtesy of Grima - huge thanks for this gem! Wow. Like drinking a banana smoothy - great representation of the hefe style!

Bottle courtesy of Grima, thank you! Cloudy yellow orange color, huge fluffy, thick white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of intense banana, subtle clove. Taste is banana, clove and toast bubblegum. Very nice.

Hazy blond coloured beer with small white head and medium carbonation. Spicy aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is bit sour fruity with spicy ending.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2013 from bottle. pours a hazy orange colour with a huge frothy head. balanced aroma of banana, pear and biscuit. the rothaus hefeweizen (or "zäpfle" as it is called) has a medium body, a quite high carbonation and a wonderful creamy mouthfeel. pleasent fruity flavours - the usual banana and pear characteristics - and some fine spice and biscuit notes. really nice weizen!

On tap, quite a vivid orange colour to it. Light hopping with the usual yeasty malt body one would expect though lacking somewhat in character, with only a mild spicy note (a little coriander perhaps). A lightly flavoured hefeweizen then, but not unpleasant.
