Wheat is an important and typical flavor carrier in this type of beer. As with all other beers we also work at Rothaus Hefeweizen with a slightly higher original gravity of 12.5%.

In addition to the fine hop bitterness (13 bitter units), Rothaus Hefeweizen is typical of the variety, with another important flavor component, the yeast. In Hefeweizen the yeast is not mixed, but a top-fermenting yeast is used. Unlike our other beers, it comes with unfiltered wheat beer bottling.

Ingredients: water, wheat malt, barley malt, hops, hop extract, yeast.

Bottle from Hippo Beers. Hazy golden body with a thin white head that quickly fades. Lively carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of freshly cut oranges and apricots. Flavour of juicy pears, fruity esters and a faint white pepper finish. Medium body with a watery, slightly oily texture. A very fruity Hefeweizen.

500ml bottle bought at foodGARDEN in D2 Place, Lai Chi Kok.

Cloudy hazy light orange honey colour with dirt-like yeast sediments; Explosive three finger head with lasting crumpety off-white foam; Excellent sticky lacing and fizzy carbonation; Very fragment aroma of banana, vanilla, bubblegum, sugar, caramel, cloves, spices, Wheat, light malt and light grass; Pretty tart and light sweet taste of light malt, with strong banana, vanilla, faint cherry and caramel, strong yeast, thin lemon, and very light grass; Mid to light body, thin and crisp palate; Mouth feel is very estery and quite refreshing banana, vanilla. And caramel. Good touches of sour cherry and notes, cloves and spices are expressive. Yummy… Hoppiness is faint grass nose, very light lemon and grass taste. Detectable liquorices for very low-fi bitter semi-finish; Slightly dry after taste, very easy and quite refreshing to mouth.

Comments: This one is somewhere between above average and top dogs. It has impressive looks and head retention, simple but refreshing estery aroma, right on tartness, good spiciness, and not so dry crispiness. Easily enjoyable and a very solid Hefeweiss. Don’t miss it!

Light amber color. No distinctive flavour. Hefeweizen without fruity notes. Quite strong carbonation. A bit metallic aftertaste. Not my kind of beer.

330ml Rothaus Zäpfle made with water from the Black Forrest. I like the taste. Less banana than other german Hefeweizen. It tastes lighter and you can drink it from the bottle. Very good.

Bottle @ Greg’s palace, courtesy of readbaron. Excited for these hefewhales, Pours a cloudy yellow orange appearance with a white head. Classical big banana, clove, vanilla, light citrusy, big yeasty aroma. Delicious fruity yeasty, wheat, lemon, bubblegum, big banana flavor with a bit of tartness on the finish and maybe a hint of metal. Excellent.

330 ml bottle. Cloudy deep golden. Medium off-white head. Bold banana and clove aroma. Very flavourful weissbier. Nice sparkling carbonation and a soft maltiness to balance. Some residual sweetness, but enough bittering hops and carbonation to balance.
