Oh yeah...this is a REAL GERMAN PILS. The essence of this beer is one of complexity and, of course, utter quaffability. Those two characteristics are usually at odds with each other. But I find the best German Pils on the market can typically do both. The hops are fresh and rich, but never push the boundary past what a pilsener should be. It doesn’t taste like an IPA, in other words. The finish is a tantalizingly bitter and spicey hop medley that fills the mouth and back of the throat and lingers daintily and tastefully until the next sip...whenever that will be. Now that my all time favorite beer is no longer available in the USA (Lammsbrau Pilsener), I HOPE to be keeping cases of this magnificent stuff in my basement throughout the warmer months. An amazing beer.

0.33 l bottle. Pours golden color with nice thick white head. Malts, some corn in aroma. Well rounded bittersweet taste with bitterish finish. Light body, lively carbonated. Not too complex yet decent pilsner.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2016 Clear gold with nice head. Aroma of grains and sulfur. Taste grainy, herbal, with a sulfur note. Decent Pils, but could probably stand longer lagering.

Nice to have a German pils on tap. Poured clear medium gold, nice head. Spicy floral hops over honey malts. Honey malts surprisingly forward - almost more Czech in nature than German, with the noble hop notes supplying a finishing note. I prefer a crisper pils. Not bad, just not my favorite take on the style.

0.33 l bottle at ’Café Brecht’, best before November 2016. Clear, pale golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, slightly grassy and a little fruity aroma of sweet malts, straw and hints of citrus. Sweetish, slightly grassy and a little fruity taste of sweet malts, straw and faint hints of citrus, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly grassy finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay, seems more like a Helles, don’t understand why this has some kind of iconic status.

Klassisches deutsches Pils, goldgelb mit festem Schaum, feines grasiges Hopfenaroma, eine Spur edler als das typische deutsche Fernsehpils

Tap at Answer. Golden with thin white head. Cereal and citrus with a light metallic. Light honey flavor cut with grain and light citric flavor. Not bad but there are other pils I like better.
