Bottle, 330ml. Pale straw colour with a large frothy head. Aroma of wet dog. Flavour has banana, apple and some faint hop bitterness. High carbonation. Drinkable but too fizzy.

Forse la migliore pilsner che ho assaggiato a berlino, al palato più piena e dal sapore deciso.

Aroma - grassy hops and bready malt. Appearance - the body is a clean pale yellow, with some mild nucleation. The head is about 1 1/2" and white. The head settles slowly. Great lacing throughout. Taste - slightly grassy hops with a bready malt. Palate - medium body, smooth texture, average carbonation, the finish has a slight grassy hop.

Keg at Bierkeller, Manchester. A clear golden colour with a fizzy white head. Aroma of stale bread, slight perfume, a little banana and subtle grassy hops. Taste of stale bread, a little banana, slight clove and subtle grassy hops. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A dry, bready, grassy hop bitterness in the finish. Not much aroma but the taste is of a typical German Pils. Quite dry and average overall.

360 ml bottle. Pale yellow gold color. Large frothy white head. Grainy malt nose has bready, grassy notes. Sweet grainy malt flavor. Some lemony citrus as well. Refreshing classic malty Pils character. A nice beer.

Ever since Kardinal Hall opened here in Charlottesville, this has been my go-to beer, by the litre of course. It pours a delightful rich yellow, bordering on golden, topped with a good firm inch of driven white foam. The aroma is classic noble hops, floral, grassy, touches of lemon, in the background is a cereal note. Taste is lightly bready, with a touch of digestive biscuit, and a good solid hop bite, like a sweet lemon, with a clean bitterness that demands more drinking. Body is medium, and the drinkability is superb. If there is a finer German Pilsner on planet earth, I am yet to drink it.

Bottle from Sprout’s: Poured a sparkling gold with rapid rising carbonation bubbles while a thin white foam cap rested on top. Aroma is subtle and has harmonious balance between the floral hops that suggest a hint of spicing while a minor nose of wheat or hay like malt evens things out. Where the aroma feel short, the flavor of the does not. Bold wheat and grain flavors dominate the drink with minimal taste of the yeast or hops added. The flavor of Rothaus Pils is unique and has an undeniable flavor that most other Euro or American pils fail to pull off. Certainly will be remembering this beer as one of the better Pilsener styled beers.
