22oz bomber pours crystal clear amber with copper hues and supporting a tan head of foam. The aroma is full up sweet smooth bourbon booze and maybe some vanilla and wafer thin like beer dark fruity esters. The taste is similar where I get almost nothing but sweet vanilla and bourbon booze. At least the bourbon booze note is pretty smooth since it is by far the dominant flavor component. What bits of beer I’m getting are well off in the background. The beer notes seem to be cherry and prune with a wafer thin smattering of vague pine like hoppiness. Man, this has had way too much barrel time for my taste. Why craft a beer and then allow it to get smothered by barrel notes? I don’t get it.

BOLTZ7555 (2799) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - APR 6, 2013
Rose colored hue with a small eggshell cap. Bourbon, hint of wood, loads of vanilla, toffee, caramel, and honey-baked biscuit. Nothing terribly distinguishable and a little thin. The alcohol was noticeable but not overly distracting. The most telling sign: I wouldn’t buy this again. Meh.

beerbastard (687) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - APR 5, 2013
22oz. bottle, pours reddish brown with a small head. The nose starts out with malts pursuing the bourbons and vanillas that are well blended together. Has a rich palate. Full flavors that start with hot booze followed by malts, and vanillas. The hops show up at the back now, bringing in the balance that’s needed. Finishes with dryness and heat. However this is a pricey beer, over $17.00.

Bottle. Clear dark red with a fizzy tan head. Caramel, molasses, sweet cereal grain, and mellow bourbon aroma and taste with a lightly bitter and oaky vanilla finish. Silky full bodied citrusy palate.

Tried the non-BA version yesterday. This one is better. Same flavor profile as the other, but has more of a distinct toffee flavor than the non-BA, and a darker, less frothy pour. Surprisingly am not picking up any bourbon notes; perhaps some smokey notes, but I could be imagining that. Overall, the flavor is more robust than the non-BA version. A little disappointing is that the aging process doesn't mellow the beer much in terms of the only downside I had with the yesterday's, a wee bit of lingering alcohol burn. That said, whereas the non-BA has an ABV of 8.5%, the BA checks in at 10%. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

dreadnord (1013) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 24, 2013
Pours transparent ruby red with a small white head. Nose is toasted coconut, vanilla, light citrus and hay. The taste is sweet at first with some big bitter on the end. The mouthfeel is crisp and sticky, heavy body and a long finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 feb 2013, bottle. Dark brown, clear, no bubbles. Nose is sweet, golden syrup, granola and honey. Thin body and moderately fizzy. Syrup, granola, toasted malt. Okay. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bottle. Seems to match the picture for the other Freudian Sip but the 10% listed here is what was on the label. Clear purple brown with a balsa head. Nose is honey, brown sugar, raisin, hay, bourbon and oak. Sticky medium to full body with a tingle. At first i get a blast of clove and nutmeg; fades to butterscotch then bitter grass and red licorice. A hoppy, spiced barleywine? Unusual.

Amber colored pour with an off-white head. Vanilla and oak up front with a nice dark fruit sweetness. Mild charred oak note, caramel, raisin, and very faint candied citrus. The flavor has a lot of barrel notes, particularly charred oak, bourbon, and vanilla. Good caramel and dark fruit sweetness, too, but a bit on the watery side.

Should be Freudian Sip, not Slip. Bomber from Bine and Vine. Pours reddish gold with beautiful yellow thick head. Great lacing. Aroma mainly sweet malts and pine hops. Taste caramel malts with bourbon and slight oak replaced by pine/resin hops. Finish mainly pine. Palate thin and really detracted overall. Interesting alcohol burn combined with the cold sensation of the pine hops.

I didn’t care for the balance. I couldn’t tell what the brewer was going for with this one.
