On tap at Herringbone in La Jolla. Served in a pint glass, very cold. Medium yellow color with a small white head. Nose is pineapple, grass. Taste is wood and citrus, and some malt. Has a little sweetness in there as well. Decent.

My choice of favorite from the ample taster tray. Bright aroma of hops hits the nose. Nice balance of bitterness. Pours a lovely orange color.

Bottle. Pours golden orange with white head. Nose and taste of citrus, salted caramel malt, grapefruit rind and resin/pine. Finishes dry resin/pine with touch of sap. Some buttery notes. Lighter than medium body.

Pours a nice slightly hazy medium yellow wihta soapy white head. Aroma is spicy, juicy and sweet with a slight pineapple scent. Very dry bitterness hits first with a woody, vegetal taste. This is immediately followed by a juicy, citrus pith bitterness that rounds out the taste. Thereís a candied sweetness that balances out all the bitterness very well. Surprisingly, thereís also a very evident toasted malt flavor that isnít present in a lot of IPAs which is really nice. Finishes very dry with waves of hoppy bitterness as well as a lingering honeyed sweetness. Excellent West Coast IPA.

Good to be the 10th rater. Bomber from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. (Fredís the man for beer!) Pours a light amber gold with a four finger creamy/bubbly/frothy white head. Aroma is a cross between orange zest and cat pee. Execellent beginning. Med body. Flavor is lots of (to me) citrusy hop over a decently roasty caramel. Bitter assaults the tongue, yet there is a certain lurking sweetness. Itís not a NW mouth burner, but it is a seriously smooth and hoppy ale. Finishes nicely bitter. Seems to be more resin in the finish than citrus. Almost earthy.

650ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a translucent brass color with a medium white head that soon recedes to a film. The aroma features ripe citrus, mostly oranges and tangerines, and a bit of bubble gum. The taste is unlike the nose, the oranges never really materialize, instead I get a neutral bitterness with limes, a bit of grapefruit, resins and bread. The palates is full and silky with lively carbonation. The finish is dry and medium in duration. Overall: Interesting take on the old IPA, and at $4 a bomber its a good value. I will have to try more from this brewery--seems promising.

On tap at the brewery in late June. Pours with a clear golden hued body with a small white head. Aromas are slightly low on the hops, but what is there is herbaceous, tangerine, citrus. Low caramel malt, medium esters. Flavors are dry and surprisingly boozy for the stated ABV, tangerine, citrus zest, hoppy, low malt. Lively bubbles with a dry finish.

Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Poured a golden elixir with a frothy topping of white foam head. There is an undeniable smell of alcohol while being fruity with scents of an orange orchard. Also, there is a woody aroma or hint of vanilla extract lurking in the background. The drink is confusing because there is a sturdy backbone of malts while any taste of funky hops that comes off extremely fruity. Flavors include lemon zest, lime juice, sweet grilled onion and a taste of alcohol. There is also sweet bread and buttery biscuit taste in the finish that doesnít quite seem right. $5 for bomber isnít fair and decent so even though I didnít like the taste of this beer, my overall score ranked up an extra point.

Bomber (7%) from Palm Springs. Orange in color with a hint of yellow. Nose is a little hoppy, sort of dry and quite pungent. Dry skunked hop flavor. Not extremely flavorful. Makes me think of a hopped up malt liquor. Finish has some grapefruit peel. Seems to have a woody character to it.
