Bottled. Rating number 9; for some reason I can’t help but think of the White Album. Pours dark golden with a lofty white cap of foam that lasts. Aroma of pine sap and a bit of grapefruit. For some reason I get a hint of metal. Well-balanced flavor of smoky malt, grapefruit, orange citrus and cut grass. Finish round out well. Slight bit of vegetable underneath. Enjoyable.

Has a much maltier aroma than the other IPA. The flavor is really pretty tasty, not really aggressive and an excellent finish. Far less malty body than aroma.

Bottle. Clear burnt umber, medium beige head, lots of residual and lacing. Aroma is heavy malty, tons of caramel and bread, buttery with some pine and tropical fruit notes. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, green tea and pine, along with caramel. Medium body. Clearly not the freshest, but its hard to see how this ever rose to a 95.

Bomber. Clear orange copper, lasting off-white foam. Hoppy grapefruity aroma. Taste is more grapefruity than tropical, quite citrusy, lightly sweet leaner caramel malt. Average carbonation, lighter bodied, moderately hopped. Good. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

Poured from 1 pint 6 fl oz bottle. Orangey yellow with off-white head. Biscuity malt with light resinous citrus hops. Very slightly watery.

On tap at Rough Draft. It pours a deep orange gold color with an off white head. The aroma is fruity with mostly tropical mango, papaya and some caramel. The flavor is toasted with some caramel, more fruitiness, light acidity and solid/medium bitterness. Floral. Decent.

Bottle from Wine Emporium 030415. Quite a decent IPA this one with a deep copper colour and a thin tan head. More malty than hoppy with a thick body. Resinous and oily in the mouth with a long strong finish.

Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Hazy amber color, small head. The aroma is lightly grainy, vegetables, malt and hops, biscuit, a bit musky; very nice. Medium body strength, the malt flavor has a grainy character, strong bitterness, hop resins, but it also has a vegetable and buttery note.
Imprecise.

July 10th, 2013 - Here comes another IPA from Rough Draft - the Southern Triangle IPA. To my calloused taste buds this has much more of an old world flavor, with a hoppiness that reminds me of a bitter tobacco, and a flavor that conjures images of straps of leather and cigars. This is a "lounge" drinking beer, best paired with smoking jackets and fireplaces. But those can be in short supply in San Diego, so maybe this is a beer best smoked in the company of folks at Racine & Laramie, or just in front of a slow cooker filled with bacon and beans. Whenever or wherever you drink it, make sure flavor is afoot, as this is a slightly stronger beer, and it’ll wrest other notes and tastes from you as soon as it can.

I didn’t have expectations going into this, but it blew me away. It poured a nice, white, pillow of foam that stuck around for a while. I get a lot of bready characteristics on the nose, that follow through to the initial taste in a big way. That was quickly replaced by accents of tropical fruit, lychee, and pine from the heavy handed hops. The finish lingered for a long time, showcasing a resinous palate and high alpha acid content.
