3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tall boy can served in a Prairie teku
A - Pours a clear chestnut brown with a solid off-white head. Average retention and lacing.
S - Toasted barley, clean citrus hops, nut bread, caramel, earthy.
T - Follows the nose with toasted barley, toffee sweetness surrounded by earthy tannins, peppery hops add firm but rounded bitterness, English yeast profile, nutty and bready, citrusy hops really starts coming off once warmed. Finishes nice and very dry with pecan like bitter tannins.
M - Lush body with great carbonation, firm but sloshy. Dry tannin-bitter finish.
It’s a hybrid English/American strong ale. Strong toffee/barley flavor, toasted with a rounded earth/tannin character. The citrus hops are semi spicy and paired with the firm lushy body makes for a nice drinking beer. This surprised me.

Bottle; poured an auburn color with a khaki colored head. Aroma of fruit, candy and cleaner. A pretty subdued flavor; like a barley wine light. Some toffe, fruit with some pepper notes. Ok

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
What is this name a reference to? The ruddy brown clear color laces well with a small head that burns off nicely. Pretty strong aromatic hops in the aroma, some warm malts as well. Seems almost like an arrogant bastard clone, not quite as good though. I like the strong bitter taste and it marries pretty well with the hop selection. Overall a pretty good beer if you’re down with the style.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served at recommended temperature on can (50F) in a snifter. Pours to a rocky beige head that laces well and lasts when given a little regenerative swirl. Color is a deep cherrywood red. Aroma is malty and slightly spicy, suggesting roasted malts, dark caramel malts and spicy/piney hops and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is much like an English "old ale", roasted, brown, and caramel malts with a balance of earthy hops with a dryish, resinous, boozy bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium and slightly warming. Overall a very good strong ale that sits in good company with Pyramid Snow Cap and other such complex darkish strong ales.

500mL can, pours a dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out dry dark fruits, toffee, and bread malts. Flavour brings out toasted nuts, toffee, dry bready notes, and dry dark fruits. Dry, slightly tinny, toasty and bready. Drinkable, but nothing special.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear medium brown with a small tan head with good lacing. Nose is malt forward, a little raisin, charcoal and wood, but no vanilla. Slightly floral but mostly resinous hops nose. Flavor is very sweet, almost cloying but I suspect it is because of the quite high gravity. It ends rather bitter. Heavy mouthfeel. Round but not oily - oatmeal? Lingers. Not bad but a little too sweet.
