3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
16oz can served in a Prairie teku
A - Pours black as night with a frothy tan head, excellent lacing patterns with ok retention.
S - Nice roasted malts with solid hop aroma, hop oils, cold coffee, earthy.
T - Roasted barley, coffee, some anise, a solid backing of green and citrus hops bring an adjoining bitterness to the roast. Has some salty characters, very savory with smoke and peat moss in the mix. Finishes with a dry roasty bitterness.
M - Silky feel, medium to full body with adequate carbonation, dry roast finish.
A solid stout. Bold flavors with a very nice dry-hopped aroma. This rivals Chocs Winter stout, which i hold in high regard. I’m digging the beers I’ve had from this brewery. Well done Roughtail!

Pours a dark brown color with tan head. Roasted malt mainly on the nose; follows onto the palate. Thin body for a stout. Just ok.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can courtesy of a recent Tampa Tasting. Pours a porter brown with an off-white head. Nose is some coffee, roast, pine, citrus, and chocolate. Flavor is similar- aggressively hopped stout with pine, citrus, and chocolate with some roast character as well. Medium in body and hoppy for a stout.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Can @ home, thanks to Derek. Black, inky pour with a small tan head. Smells of burnt sugar, lemon, and licorice. Sour grapefruit juice and some dark baking chocolate. Taste is ashy as hell. Grape juice sweetness, sugar, and grapefruit juice sourness. Bitter coffee and licorice. No bueno.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Very dark brown pour from a can. Light brown head. Very hoppy. This is pretty much a black IPA. Roasty, hoppy, dry. Not my favorite.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This one poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of bright green hops, roast, and chocolate. Flavor was similar, definitely pushing the boundaries of a black IPA. Decent, not great.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
16oz can pours an inky black with some sticky, lacing brown head. Nose is not super appetizing, some malt, molasses, heavy toast, industrial rubber, pencil lead, some freeze dried blueberry. Flavor is better, bread crust, really heavy burnt toast, malt, some burnt coffee. Mostly heavy burnt toast. Bone dry finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 9, 2014 16 oz Can. The beer pours to a black color with a medium tan head. The aroma has chocolate, slight citrus, some coffee notes. The taste is medium in body with a sweetness upfront followed by a very mild hop bitterness. The aftertaste is pretty mild & overall i am a fan of this Stout.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black pour with nice deep tan head. Aroma is bitter chocolate and toffee. Flavor is like a bitter mocha, soma vanilla, roasty malts. Very enjoyable!
