When most people think of a red republic or conservative state they don’t think anyone’s challenging the status quo. Well, this beer challenges the status quo of what a red ale is! This is a beer with a deep red hue, rich maltiness supporting a powerful citrus hop aroma. This is a beer brewed for the common good. Welcome to Roughtail’s Red Republic.

Nice hoppy aroma. Deep red color with a good head. Weighty and solid palate with good carbonation. Flavor was a grainy malt base with a citrus hop finish. Bolder than most for this style.

Smell of fresh citrus hops, cloudy amber appearance, bitter hop flavor on the front end with a malty flavor through the drink & slight nearly perceivable sweetness on the finish. Very well balanced and sessionable.

Dark red brown with a creamy head. Aroma is sweet caramel citrus and pine. Taste follows nose but everything seemed muted

On tap at McNellie’s. Pours a rich red with a finger or so of off-white, mostly dissipating head. Nice lacing. Sweet, malty nose, but somewhat relaxed. Nice mouthfeel with some complexity in the taste. Some fruit, more malt and a bit of hop kick. The finish was sweet--almost like maple syrup. Not at all what I had expected, but good nonetheless.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a clear amber orange with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a note of grass with a hint of grapefruit and a grain backbone. Flavor starts with light grain and a hint of biscuit with a grass note that grows throughout the beer.
