bottle. Very deep brown, near black with small head. Big chocolate flavors in this stout. Smooth and creamy. Pretty decent.

Very very creamy. Black and thick pour. Had this from draft at round barn in Michigan. Oats and vanilla. Love it.

Rated on 10-02-2010 (Bottle) This beer pours a small very fizzy light brown head with a short retention, opaque dark brown body, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is roasted coffee and chocolate. The taste is lightly bitter, roasted coffee, chocolate, and cocoa. The palate is lively and this beer is light bodied. There is not much character to this beer. It needs more body for the style and is a disappointing beer all the way around.

Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Deep, deep brown color with dark ruby highlights... No head, even with a hard-pour, only a small, khaki tinted ring. Aroma has notes of creamy, sweet chocolate syrup, light roasted malt, & a bit of dark fruit-y tartness, almost like tart raspberry or red grape... Astringent. Thin mouth feel... Solid cocoa taste up front, milk chocolates, sweet & savory leading to ashy hops & mild roast in the finish. Loses the sour fruitiness from the aroma, but is a fairly bland one-trick pony in the end. Not bad, but forgettable.

Bottle had at Three Blind Mice in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. I wasnít expecting too much out of this beer, but I enjoyed it a decent bit. Itís a solid cocoa stout that offers up some nice chocolate flavor and a slightly creamy mouthfeel due to the addition of lactose. Itís not bursting with heaps of chocolate, and itís not a very thick stout, but itís pretty tasty -- you get what you pay for, essentially. The bitterness is quite low, the chocolate flavor is added without being overwhelming, and the drinkability is quite high. Far from the best chocolate stout Iíve had, but one Iíd not mind having another of.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a dark cola with foamy light beige head. Smells of dark malt, roast, and dark chocolate. Tastes like it smells with a bit of sweetness. Solid on the palate. Not bad.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2014 Iím leaving my first rating at the bottom. Iíve changed my mind. I have nothing nice to say. Poured from a bottle, after 10-15% of the beer foamed out of that bottle. Disturbing as the bottle had been sitting for a week in the frigde. Once I could finally pour my beer, which took about 10 minutes, the glass was was half large ugly bubble foam. Looked like a root beer float, but not at all tasty. It was a skunky bottle that left a bad taste in my mouth. The coffee was burned, not dark roasted. Poured from a bottle. Dark brown with dark tan head. Strong roasted aroma. Feels a little "fuzzy." Went well with a ham & cheese sandwich

Thanks to Blake and Jenny. Poured medium brown with a short brown head. The aroma picked up sweet cocoa and vanilla with a touch of rye. The flavor found similar, with more vanilla toward the back.. finished sweet and toasty. Lighter-bodied and a tad grainy.. lower carbonation. Ok feel.
