COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A sour ale brewed in the tradition of the Weisse beers brewed in Berlin. We use pilsner, wheat and rye malts in the grist and allow it to naturally ferment before adding lactobacillus and brettanomyces. Crisp, tart and dry this beer can be consumed young, or aged for several years.

Aroma of white wine, sweet grapes. Flavor is sour - not over the top, but certainly a big part of the beer. Dry lemon, yeasty esters, pleasant and refreshing. No head, cloudy lemonade in appearance.

Can. Pours out almost a dirty dishwater color with almost no head. Aroma is sharp tartness, sour lemons, light funk, acetone. Taste isnít as over the top as the aroma, but there is some sour dairy, odd funky notes, tart lemons, acetone. Eh.....

Bottle. Pours pale and hazy yellow with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is phenols, lactic grapes and lemon with wheat malt. Flavor is lactic fruits, vinous notes, light malt, hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.

I really liked this. Great balance. Pours cloudy yellow/pale with ok head and lacing. Mango, guava and some fruits. Great balance of tart and sour, this is very nice. Tart, tangy finish. Tap at the Irish Pol.

Bottle on 6/1/14. Pours a light straw with no head, no lacing, looks more like a cloudy white wine than beer. Aroma is apples, yeast, milk. Taste is pretty terrible. Apples, olives, sour Special K, pickles, followed by sour cereal milk. Despite lacking any discernible head it is somehow feels over carbonated. Awful.

Hazy light straw. Big white head falls as fast as I pour it. No lacing. Lemony malt and yeast aroma.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2014 Fresh 12 oz bottle, mine says 4.0% abv. Nose very tart and really sour, huge on lacto with a little (read: very mild) funk, horseblanket with a bit of stale air. Pours very light, very pale yellow with a little haze and no head. Taste strongly sour, some light pucker and even acid burn, but not too extreme (but probably still too much for the average drinker). Again, lots of lacto, more evident in texture than taste. Carbonation a bit lighter than expected but itís a fine level with the tang/acidity. Some lemony and citric character, actually pretty clean for something thatís been intentionally soured, dry, with none of the funk I caught on de-crowning -- this is lacto-dominant for sure, and pretty good for style, wondering if thereís much left for the Brett to take on. Refreshing with a strong bite, probably too intense for a daily sour but brought a smile to my face. I wonder if thereís been a recipe change, or theyíve just gotten the hang of it, or if several previous raters just had a negative experience with an off-batch, because this is a BW I would absolutely recommend. [2014.01.27: 3.5]

Same pack, this bottle now with another five months on it, and definite improvement. Strong lemon and really punchy fruit, clean lacto with light bread hidden in the finish. Little bit funky but nice and rounded, nothing foul, probably exactly the development they were hoping for. Luminescent, intense tartness just a breath of fresh air, really candyish at this point, lots of lemon and black currant/cassis, fresh and bright. [2014.06.25: 4.0]

another reviewer said it best: filthy beer with tons of fermentation flaws and infections. smells like bile and Parmesan cheese wrapped in a sweaty masturbation-sock. fecal aromas, raw lactic acid sourness, like it was poured directly into the bottle. looked decent, but the aromas are so off-putting I refuse to put it into my mouth, so mouthfeel and taste get automatic 1ís. This is obviously not what they were hoping, and I know they have produced drinkable batches of this, but itís a loaded gun man. every other batch is like gulping down Parmesan cheese vomit.

12 ounce bottle, poured a light cloudy yellow color with aromas of wheat, hay and some lemon. Flavors were the same with a light lactose and sour finish. Light and refreshing this was a nice surprise.
