Pours chestnut with a thin off white head. Aroma has chocolate, dry leaves, and earthy hops. Flavor follows suit and adds some toasty caramely notes. Mouthfeel is light and silky and the finish is earthy/roasty with a hint of chocolate.

Light bodied murky brown ale, with earthy, cocoa and dry fruit flavors coming through. My palate couldn’t bring the competing flavors together, understood the concept but the sum of the parts was never cohesive for me.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DocLock (6789) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 29, 2012
Draft at Blue Dog Lansdale and Capone’s. Pours copper with minimal off-white head. Nose was roasty malt, mild hops, fruit. Tastes malty, with subdued hops, mild fruit, and mild earthy flavor hints in the finish.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 NikkTwist (892) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 31, 2012
Draft at Tattooed Mom. Dark orange brown with a slight foamy head that disappeared completely. Supposedly an answer to the Philly local Yards Brawler (which is a decent dry brown ale.) This one has a glossier edge. Mild malt flavors. Sweeter than the Yards but not nearly as sweet as many traditional brown ales (i.e. Newcastle.) Some fruitier red fruit notes here. Fuller in flavor than most brown ales, but thinner in body. Some bright notes. Nothing offensive. Nice enough for a session beer, but the Brawler is better.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Capa (1905) - Manama, BAHRAIN - JUN 5, 2012
Light caramel in color. Caramel malts, toasty, chocolate, and a bit of dark fruit. Medium bodied. Not a lot here but it’s tasty enough and easy going. Supposedly an altered version of their Yards Brawler clone that got second place in a Yards homebrew contest, which they made when just homebrewers.

Draught at Capone’s: Faint aroma of malt and slight cocoa. Poured orange in color with a small to medium-sized, creamy, dense, tan head that lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is slightly sweet. Tastes of malt and a hint of cocoa. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Lightly sweet, malt finish is dry.
