Silphium (2050), Lansing, Michigan, USA Jul 15, 2008 Krueger’s Alt, on tap at ROB. Brown body with a thin buff head. Earthy, caramely nose. Sweet body, toasty and leafy, with heavy emphasis on brown sugar notes. Not enough earthiness or bitterness to pierce the sugars. Styles (1654), Taylor, Michigan, USA Jun 8, 2005 Tap: light amber with no head. Lots of caramel in aroma and flavor. Tiny hop presence in finish. Very clean easy drinking beer. jtw (919), farmington, Michigan, USA May 31, 2005 on draft at the brewery. amber color, woody tannic caramel flavors with some american-style hopping. definitely better than decent but not mind-blowing. have the euphoriAle first. Brad (364), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA May 20, 2005 Red amber, with a thinnish white head which lasted despite being smaller in size. Large nose, mostly fruity hops, pine balanced out well an equally large malt nose. Sweet and slightly bitter flavors mixed well together, caramel malts, light hops, sugar sweetness rounded out the flavors. Lacing left let me know where each sip started and ended. 11026 (1886), USA May 14, 2005 Tap. Reddish amber colored. Nice retentive white head and fair lacing. Malty aroma with a bit of hop balance on the nose. Sweetish notes of caramel seem to predominate the nose. Clean tasting, malt stands out with caramel and honey flavors. Decent.
