Draft pint at the brewpub. Reddish-amber beer. Decent malty beer, with a moderate hop finish. Textbook American brewpub ESB -- sessionable to be sure. (#3830, 1/28/2010)

On tap: Light malt aroma. Transparent light amber with a white head. Initial quick malt followed by a decent citrus hop finish. Kind of an ESB and IPA mixed into one.
3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ClarkVV (3579) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 21, 2004
I ordered this with all the expectations of another small brewpub experiment gone bad. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a solid malt back bone that was perhaps a bit boring, but nonetheless nutty and full. Creamy mouthfeel with a lovely english bittering hops presence. Balance is wonderful. And the kicker: NO Astringency from overly dry malt that is the downfall of so many of these brewpub ESBs. Solid offering, though the aroma needs work, and though it tastes great, there is not too much bitter flavor.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 drfabulous (2948) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - SEP 1, 2007
This beer’s decent bitter and malty combo makes it a nice competitor for ROB’s IPA. Between the two beers, I usually remained satisfied during weekly visits to the ROB.

Tap: amber with little head. Only aroma I could pick up was smoke. Flavor a little strange also, decent malt/hop balance but had the same smoky tatse to it.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 11026 (1772) - Alabama, USA - MAY 8, 2005
Tap. Pours a reddish amber color with a slight off-white head. Some lacing. Aroma is a bit funky, malt and hop with another strange addition. Can’t really place it. Light to medium bodied. Decent malt flavors up front and a good hop bitterness for balance. Strange aroma doesn’t seem to show up in flavor. Nice ESB.
