sandwich_pants (117), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA Jul 21, 2005 Very smooth and enjoyable, I can see how Altbiers are more like english beers than most german beers. Mostly malty, carmely and sweet, not much hops. Like a pretty nice dark ale. SuIIy (1109), W Newton, Massachusetts, USA Jul 20, 2005 Draft at brewery. Pours a caramel brown color with a light fizzy head. Nose is caramely and sweet. Some light nuts involved as well. Taste was nice and smooth with a hint of bitterness in the end. Some caramel and malty flavors are felt throughout. Leaves a nice, velvety film on the palate. redmosquito (172), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Jul 2, 2005 Dark amber almost brown in color, clear with a light beige head. The aroma is malty caramel and nutty, there’s a good amount of Munich malt in this beer. The beer tasted good, it was clean and malty (caramel & slight toffee), perhaps lacking a little bitterness. The body was okay if not lingering. This was an okay alt, I would expect more toffee and more bitterness as a sticke.
