2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Re-Emerged in 2013 as Ceres Dortmunder, this beer has been known for nearly ten years as Royal Selection. Before that the most succesful export from the Ceres Brewery known as ’Dansk Dortmunder’.
Ceres Dortmunder is a strong lager and clocks in at 7.7%. It is a fairly drinkable brew, but I doubt the old recipe is still valid. You do taste the alcohol, but it’s measured and contested by the finer aromahops and the not so sweet malts used. Making a middle-of-the-road strong lager. It takes no prisoners, and it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. I say, drink with caution
Earlier Rating: 6/21/2012 Total Score: 2.7
This is the best beer besides Red Erik from the Ceres brewery (Royal Unibrew), and in fact it is the classic old ’Dortmunder’ under a different moniker. Strong dark yellow pour with good head and a sweet and strong hoppy aroma. I prefer this beer pretty cold 4-7°C and in a stange-type glass.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Can, as Ceres Dortmunder. A dense, two-finger off-white head forms over a clear, golden body. The aroma is pretty fruity, with grains and corn, and some notes of alcohol. It’s sweet on the palate, lightly warming, and with a nice carbonation level. The flavor has a quite pleasant bitterness, with corn, white sugar and some fruityness. The finish lasts for some time, with pale malts, corn and some grassy hops. A little bitterness and warmth too. Certainly not a winner in my book. 140111
