COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dark brew is a very unique creation originally conceived at home by one brewer. It is a combination of styles that came from his love of Stouts and Porters coupled with his thirst for bitterness and aroma found in an IPA. It is an IPA with a heart of darkness, an India Black Ale.

Pours a dark and deep brown with a big, long lasting tan head. The aroma has plenty of roasted malts, to go along with a milder combination of pine and grapefruit, some chocolate and coffee. The taste is very dry. The malts are much more subdued and replaced with strong flavors of lemon as the main theme. I find pine, chocolate, herbal hops, and light grapefruit. Aftertaste consists of lemon and lasts a long time. Medium in body, slick, yet a bit sticky in texture, while about average in carbonation. This one is rather interesting. Its a little different than most you find in this style. Its well worth trying.

Nice. Perhaps not roasty enough. Iím getting the hops, but prefer more maltiness in this style. But thatís a nit.

Pours two fingers of light tan head on a dark brown body. The aroma is roasted malt, burnt lemon and pine. The taste is burnt malt with a little coffee and some lemon bitterness. The texture is quite soft and pillowy with moderate carbonation. An excellent black ale.

Dark brown pour. Medium tan head. Aroma is cocoa and pine. Flavour is baker's chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt. Piney hop. Wonderfully smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, charcoal, fruittiness, light dark roast coffee and a hint of smoke. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of roasted malt, licorice, bakers cocoa and light coffee with a crisp dry lingering roasty finish.

On tap at Brewsters, LAX. Handsome deep-dark brown pour with a medium prickly head. Nose a bit more dank and chocolatey than the sharp aroma you usually get with this style (though thatís not to say that sharpness is lacking). More of an emphasis on the B than is customary, in other words. Plenty of pine in the nose, and thatís the dominant hop trait in the taste as well. Itís framed by plenty of roasted malts, and a good bit of choc and caramel. Decent enough brew, almost could be considered a very hoppy porter.

22oz bomber pours dark mahogany with an inch tall densely cobweby mocha colored head. The aroma offers up a pleasing mix of pine hops, dank earthy hops and spicy hops. This has a promising start. The taste, luckily, is similar with dank to pine to spicy earthy hop goodness where thereís slivers of citrus like hops in there somewhere too. This has nice rich flavors with loads of bitter hops and plenty of flavor hops as well as a mild degree of malt roastiness to balance it out a tad. Excellent stuff.

Bomber from Hayduke. We enjoyed a bottle together via facebook chat. This had a huge tan head that took some time to fade. I poured 4 times into my 12 oz. tulip and each required patience. The beer is pretty much black. Thick lacing remains. The nose is citrus hops that say West Coast hops. First sip is chocolate and roasted malts with those hops right behind. The hops lit up my mouth with delightful brightness. Hope were citrus dominated but their bitterness was moderate at most. On occasion some biscuit was tasted and there was a hint of cardboard. A fun thing with this beer was the changes that popped up out of nowhere. This has to be my favorite from this style. A very tasty beer and a fun one to drink.

Shared with Strykzone via Facebook Chat. From a 22-oz bomber this poured a near black with simply huge gray head, with gigantic bubbles. Amazing head retention. Nice hoppy nose with pine, citrus, flowers, and kiwi for strawberry - The flavor is bright hop - kiwi -citrus - pine. Finish is long and complex with a good mix of roasted malts and the fruit. Bitteness as well. This is a simply superb brew.

Dark brown/black pour. Aroma is a nice blend of roasted malt and grassy and resinous hops. Flavor is chocolate and roasted malts, with the grassy and resinous hops coming through again. Medium bodied. Overall a decent black IPA, but a little too mild.
