4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bhensonb (9093) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 29, 2010
Tap at the brewpub. Pours golden peach/amber with a four finger off-white ringy/clingy head. Huge fresh floral hoppy aroma. Full bodied with creamish carbonation. It’s very hoppy. First I thought resin; then I thought grapefruit. Then it was sort of floral. Definitely sort of hoppy. More than. The malt base is supportive, but fairly obliterated. This will stand up to just about any DIPA. Excellent.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2011 On cask, one of the first pours. Huge head for a cask beer with a muddy yellow body, and tons of hop sediment. Aroma is freaking DELICIOUS! Hops, hops, hops and more hops! Mango and pine, herbaceous and awesome! Taste is real hoppy and herbal with a nice sweetness. A bit yeasty, but then again it was one of the first pours. Cask conditioned mouthfeel, with decent bubbles at that! 948417:4.2
Bottle marked at 8.2% (fresh). Pours with a clear golden-orange hue with a large, and lasting, creamy, just off-white head. Good retention and lace. Aromas are hop forward. Spicy, citrusy, juicy, herbal, tropical fruit. Seems like Columbus paired with some Simcoe. Very floral. Dank. Apricots. Some noticeable alcohol. Malt bill is just a hint in the background. Some esters. Flavors lightly grainy sweet, floral. Light bitterness but quite a bit of hop flavor. Sweet, fruity, floral, tropical fruit, light pine and lightly spicy. Light esters. Very nice balance for a big DIPA, some alcohol noticeable. Medium bubbles, lightly creamy, warming, dry mouthfeel. Good beer, but not as good as the cask version I had a few years back.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 bb (5974) - Alamo, California, USA - OCT 4, 2008
Draft. Rich amber with a low off-white head. Grapefruit, pine, and sweet caramel malt. Grapefruit, pine tar, and caramel flavor with good bitterness. Not as sweet as I’d have thought from reading the reviews. Medium body. Lingering pine resin and grapefruit with sweet caramel.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ibrew2or3 (5823) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 22, 2012
22oz bomber pours clear copper with thin gold edges and a nice quarter inch tall tan head. The aroma offers up some grapefruit, lime and mango and then moves into a good does of spicy somewhat dank hoppy goodness followed by a modest level of sugary sweet malts. It smells like I shouldn’t wait any longer and take a hurried swig. Damn, I’m digging the flavor with big chewy dank spicy hops rimmed with lesser amounts of various citrus notes, some pine hop resin and supported by malt sweetness that’s a couple of notches too sweet. Still, the sweet malts are only a minor nuisance in a sea of fresh rich hoppy goodness. It ends with a pleasingly long bitter hoppy after taste. Good gravy and this bomber is only like $4.50. This kind of effort moves into the Lagunitas realm of great to amazing taste for the money spent. Kudos!! I plan to get more soon, tomorrow actually.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 beerguy101 (5206) - Newark, California, USA - JUL 22, 2012

The aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet, hint of orange and citrus. A medium bodied Imperial India Pale Ale. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet, with a touch or orange and orange peel. The hops are citrusy and herbal with some orange. Decent carbonation. Nice malt sweetness, but the hosp seem a little off somehow. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
