Golden in color with an assertive hop bitterness. This beer won gold medals at The Great American Beer Festival in 1989 and 1990. A true American Classic.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. CleR ligjt golden brown with little head. A nice citrus caramel aroma is classic. First sip is dry and has a nice balance. This is softer than I prefer but is nice.ligjt fruit and mild malts.

Pours a light golden yellow with mid-sized head. Strong hop aroma and strong hop bite to the flavor (coupled with the usual citrus notes). Smooth finish. A nice example of the style, though nothing too special.

Tap. Pours clear dark gold with a medium, fizzy white head with medium retention and light lacing. Aroma is fragrant floral, citrus, and pine hops with tropical fruity esters, cookie and biscuit malt. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness, supporting malt, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Pours a clear amber. Has almost a prune or raisin aroma. Maybe it’s gone bad? (saying this before tasting it). A bit nuttier than most IPAs. Not terribly hoppy. Fairly light. Not terrible, not great.

Very nice hop/malt balance, with a pronounced hop bitterness at the finish. A new offering in MN. I’ll be having more of this. Reminds me of a dIPA, but it doesn’t pack as much ABV.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2012 Bottle from France and 44. Pours bright amber with a sudsy off white head that settles to a soapy film and some lacing. Aroma is sweet floral citrus pineapple and piny with just a touch of malt mixed in. Taste is very nice hoppy bitterness with pine citrus mango pineapple and a smooth malty finish. Palate is medium and shows good carbonation with a chalky drying finish. Very well done! I wish there were more California IPA’s on the shelf here in Minnesota!

Caramel malts, vanilla and floral hops come through on the aroma. Clouded copper color with a small foam and decent lacing. Caramel and nut malts upfront with balancing floral and citrus hops in the back. Alcohol makes its presence known on the finish. Overall, a pretty decent IPA with relatively balanced flavors. More on the malty side. B rating.

22oz bottle picked up at Bevmo
Appearance: Pours slightly hazy golden with a small white head and some lacing
Aroma: Citrus and fruity
Taste: Grapefruit, caramel and bitter lemon zest
A decent IPA, bitter hops overpower the beer.
