3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20 adeezhop (19) - port jeff sta, Alabama, USA - MAY 13, 2013
I think that with a name like hoptimus prime it should be more of a pronounced hoppier taste. The malt over powers the hops in my opinion. That said although this imo is not a good representation of a dipa it is still enjoyable. The alcohol is hidden well and it is pretty sessionable and refreshing. Not my style as far as double ipa is concerned but tastey
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jtclockwork (5092) - , New Jersey, USA - APR 29, 2013
Bottle. Pours orange gold. Nose and taste of perfumy hops, caramel malt, grass, alcohol soaked citrus and orange peel. Slightly spicy malt. Medium body. Finishes bitter orange/slight resin.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sask89 (326) - Regina, Saskatchewan, CANADA - APR 27, 2013
Pours a hazy amber colour with a large creamy off-white head. Aroma is not too strong but has a noticeable citrus hop scent and some general fruitiness and grain malt notes. Taste is a little too sweet and lacking in bitterness for me. Light-medium body, thinner mouth feel and average carbonation. Overall good brew, unsatisfactory double IPA.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 beastmaster (90) - Florida, USA - APR 6, 2013
Color is dark hazy orange. Thin head. Aroma bitter orange zest. Light zest bitter beer. Bottle was way too old. Almost soapy. If you like buying orange/lemon peels get this. Not happy. I wish I had a fresher beer.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 BMMillsy (680) - Florida, USA - APR 6, 2013
Old bottle from ABC. Pours clouudy light orange with tiny white head. Strong lemon and orange zest aroma with some caramel candy malt. Bit of wet dog. Flavor follows aroma exactly. Lots of orange peel. Not much hops left here. Medium mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Meh.

22 oz bottle - This beer poured a very nice orange-gold color with a healthy sized almost white head. Excellent color. The aroma was almost non-existent. Good malt flavor, light but noticeable. The residual hop bitterness is pleasant on the tongue. Dry hopping was evident to me in the light resin-like texture on the tongue, but no very strong, expected hop flavor and aroma from this beer.
The bottle I got must have been older. I don’t think they can ship this beer fast enough. The shop I got it from said they just got them in and I trust them on that. I have heard other people report similar experiences with the aroma. Overall it’s a tasty beer, but not really what I’m looking for in an DIPA.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 StaleBeer (19) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Looks better than it tastes. Nice coppery color with a foamy head and good lacing. Fairly mild aroma slightly sweet and earthy. Taste is not balanced. Creamy upfront with an unripe grapefruit finish. Bitter and sour.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 DuffMan (5189) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 1, 2013
Bottle, shared with my wife. Light orange-gold, medium off white head. Aroma is bitter grapefruit rind with herbal undertones. Heavy hopped palate, very bitter without a lot of complexity, and taking on a bit of a medicinal quality that I’m not crazy about. Sweet caramel malt structure helps a little, but this beer just didn’t shine for me. Just okay.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Fritz123 (235) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - FEB 28, 2013
Bottle. Pint. Aroma is mostly of hops and malt. Not many other smells come through. Poured a hazy light orange. Thin head and mild lacing. Taste was rather disappointing for a double IPA. Alcohol comes through and the hops are well done. But the malts fall flat and there’s really not much other body to this beer. Certainly not a bad beer, but nothing to write home about.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 radarsock (476) - Massachusetts, USA - FEB 27, 2013
650 mL bottle purchased from town for $6.99 exactly. I used the Smuttynose pint I got at Smutty’s promotional tap takeover in Hampton. Its pour is a amber golden with which sustained a creamy eggshell one and a half fingers head. Smells of soil, mushrooms, hops, and caramelized onions. Taste of vegetable hops, saltwater, seaweed, cucumber, sage, shiitake mushrooms, and vitamins. Yeast, hay, clementine, hop pellets, salt and heat by swallow. Decent by much too salty without much in regards to its malt usage.
